A question about Custom Components in Ship Designer

I've got a lil question about how Custom Components works in Ship Designer.

My problem is simple: when I save a ship containing a Custom Component, if I save it as a Ship Design the ship's thumbnail (the PNG file in the Designs folder) shows the ship as it is, but if I save it as a Ship Template the Custom Component doesn't appear (so the thumbnails shows only the basic parts), also if other parts are attached to the Component they don't show up as well.

Is this a normal behaviour? How do I solve it?

So, nobody can help me? If it's important, my version of the game is 2.6 with Mercenaries and Crusade expansions.

Unfortunately my talents run to music and ruthlessly conquering galaxies B)

Watching Brad throw together a ship in a matter of seconds, that is better looking than something I could do in a couple of days just makes me want to :'(

There are a number of talented ship artists on this forum though, hopefully this thread will catch someone's eye.

Good luck!

Templates are for ship designs minus components, which as I understand the word component means the following; engines, armaments, defenses, sensors, etc. Their placement is saved if you select it as a design.

Templates are for the architectural aspect of the ship only.

Now if you are having an issue with a custom architectural ship part, that is a different story.

That's exactly the problem, Palace. For example, take this ship: all the turrets are custom parts I created and the the thumbnail (the second picture) doesn't show them.

Now, this is not an issue for small parts (since the thumbnail is so small you don't care). It becomes a problem when one uses custom parts for big chunks of the hull (and a ship which misses half of its body is really embarassing).
