unknown unit template" PHC_2 ... Thantos and more after updating the game

Why does this game always have issues when I update it.  First it doesn't launch because of some library was put wrongly into the game path by the official installer, now the thing doesn't launch because of missing unit definitions.

 

I go from 2.25 to 2.71 and now the game doesn't launch again.  During load it says unknown unit template PHC_2 ... Thantos,   The choices are Continue Or Abort.  If i Hit continue it complains about a bunch of other units too.

 

We were also promised LAN multiplayer too, that's nowhere to be seen still either.  I'm still waiting for direct IP or LAN as promised.  Still waiting for a working map editor.

 

Then I at least want to play the game, but nope.  Apparently the official installers and official DLC installers just are not supposed to update the game.

 

As a user this is really frustrating.  Why is updating your game so hard every time?  Why do you go silent on LAN support?

Is this on Steam or GOG?

The map editor works, but can be unstable.

I would also love if GOG left patches on their site for 6 months to a year instead of just having 1 patch available.  If Stardock could talk to GOG about that that would also be great.

I haven't used GOG but I had a similar problem once.  I use Steam and it has a verify files function.  I ran that and it it fixed my problem, is there something similar with GOG?

The PHC_Thantos is the old internal name form the Nemesis, both names should be listed in UnitTemplates file, might be worth checking they are in the file.

Thanks X-Peri-MENTAL for explaining this.  It's helpful.  I am not aware of a verify feature in GOG except maybe if you use the GOG Galaxy, but the reason I went to GOG is to avoid such things.

I installed the full installer for the game over top of the old one and this happened.  Unfortunately GOG likes to hide patches as soon as possible and only leaves 1 patch on their site at a time, so I had to re-download the entire game.  This should work and property upgrade and replace an existing game install.  It's extremely frustrating that I go though this regularly with this game.  I don't have this issue with any other game.  Last time they messed up the installer so that even after a reinstall, the game didn't run at all anymore, like this one.  I guess my only option is to try to uninstall and re-install.  But it's extremely frustrating as the developers can't get their installer working properly.

I am still waiting for this to be fixed, it's been almost 5 months now.  This is ridiculous and unacceptable customer support.

 

I tried verifying files with Gog galaxy client as well and after a long time of sitting at 0.0% yet using my disk drive constantly, it freezes.

 

Stardock, please reply, this is unacceptable!!!
