Wommers.....some graphics used in that work require original author's consent which, as yet, was not forth-coming...

well i hope there isn't a prob getting permissions cause that was one of the nicer dark skins here. just wish i hadn't deleted original one so fast. thanks for the info jafo.

Smoke (http://tetsudust.net/) has gotten permission to port Takashi Izawa's Shinobi theme to WB4. Its a direct port of the Mac theme so the buttons are on the left hand side and it has borderless windows. Read what smoke has put on his front page before you try to download...

my port of shinobi was permitted by Takashi also. it was based on Takashi's graphics and those in the visual style port by kol. each artist granted permission to use his graphics. but the skin was more of a hassle than what is is worth so i removed it from wc. smoke's port is a pretty good one. i suggest using it.

Pasley....there was no permission included from Kol, hence the work's removal...

Please, Pasley, re-upload! >

wait a minute here, kol did grant permission, i sent the text from the email message concerning this to the appropriate person. after that, the skin was on wc. i removed it this morning ( or maybe it was last night ). if you could see some of the emails i have gotten concerning this skin, you'd understand why it isn't uploaded anywhere. wc mods held the skin in limbo until the permission text from kol was sent to wc personnel. after that, it was approved. it was me who removed it. now, that's the end of it. it won't be resubmitted to wc or anywhere else. i suggest if anyone wants the shinobi skin to get smoke's. have a great day, all

Pasley...again, I was contacted by a third party claiming there WAS no consent so I checked the file/zip and it still had none included, so I withdrew the work from public view...I put it 'private' again and emailed you why. I received my copy of the email so I can only assume you did too and subsequently removed the work completely instead of updating and including the permission....email time [in OZ] was Sunday 25/5/2003 12.39am...so we are talking 'recent', not in the past...

when i first saw this port (you ran KoL´s msstyle through this converter program, right?), there was neither credit to nor permission from KoL included. so i did ask Franco (KoL) wether he approved a WB port of his port. the answer was no, but it seemed somebody else had already reported this as the theme was down a while later.

next day it was up again, but still without credit or permissions, so i reported it and it was taken down again.

it is exactly the same problem as with this skin: https://www.wincustomize.com/window.asp?Cmd=COMMENTS&Lib=1&SkinID=3285
it is once again a port of a port done with the converter program. it is cool you got permissions from Kevin, but this skin also contains elements from the msstyle port by Shalayer. MacOS X does not have a start menu or taskbar (as you probably know). still there is no credit to nor permissions from Shalayer included. the msstyle is here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/1826014

moshi, why did i already know that you were the 'third party'? for your information, shalayer was asked long before i received permission from kevin. and yes, shalayer's permission text is in the wba file. so, before someone attacks me, i'd appreciate the person getting their facts straight. or would u prefer me to remove cappuccino also? as for shinobi, i had already admitted to everyone who needed to know that i had made a mistake and had misunderstood Kol. when the misunderstanding was evident, i again asked Kol if using his graphics were OK with him. He agreed as he always has. btw, if you look real closely, you'll see that the skin is based on Kol's port but not entirely. i readily admitted that the skin was based oh Kol's work and that of Takashi. you, moshi, know for a fact that i always try to receive permission from the artist. did i or did i not ask you for permission to use a few of your graphics in an update to an older wb skin? you agreed to it but the author of the wb skin wouldn't agree to your terms. not my fault there. i can understand both sides. that skin will be released, maybe, using other graphics. there isn't one single person whose visual style was ported that hasn't gotten an email message or two from me asking for permission..not one. this whole thing is due to my misunderstanding of a statement made by Kol to me weeks ago. I admit that and have apologized to Kol and anyone else who really matters. and i guarantee you that i don't need you or anyone who thinks they are the skin police to check on me because i'm done. when i admit to my mistake, and it wasn't one made of malice, and all i get is grief from somebody who has no bearing in the matter at all, this whole business is no longer fun. nice job, moshi. again, look in the wba, dude. there is indeed a permission text from shalayer regarding cappuccino.

oh, sorry. indeed. i only looked at permissions.txt did not see there is a second one.
still some credits to shalayer would have been common courtesy, dont you think.

btw: i wasn´t the only "third party". when your skin was taken down the first time somebody else seem to have reported it first.

moshi.....it's all well and good to spend your waking hours finding any fault you can with work/s submitted here, but when it is done publicly as it is here on the Message Board it really would pay to verify the efficacy of the information asserted.

The first instance regarding the thread's title was already sorted PRIOR to this thread even being posted, and the second one was a non-starter.

END OF STORY.

If you or anyone is going to launch nefarious crusades against whatever target takes your fancy then perhaps it is far wiser to do so via email to the admin/s, as wrongfully targetting people publicly is counter productive for ALL CONCERNED.

I only hope the same dilligence is taken in hunting down alleged rips on ALL the skinning sites.  I'd really hate to think this was a personal vendetta of prejudiced target.

It'd also be so much 'friendlier' if Wincustomize.com was both a recipient of submitted works and not 'just' a subject of scrutiny....but clearly our role in some peoples' existence is to be poked and prodded, but to heck with being an actual 'contributor'...

One very last comment.

I have a copy of the email consent from Kol for the shinobi work, dated May 1, 2003.

It exists.

It is just that it was not in the zip.

That is all.
