Winstep Themes
Is it allowed?
Just a curiousness here. Just wondering.....
Since WC has a Winstep library, can Winstep themes be sold here? If you're a Master, that is? Or would that be a copyright thing?
Again, just curious.

Yeah, I think I'm due a renewal. Looking good, Jorge!
Thanks, Jim.
I keep eyeballing that Winstep Themes Manager source code, just FYI...
Yep, looking good, Jorge. I think I have a while to go on my current subscription, but I believe it's due for renewal around June, Julyish, so I may as well do it now to save forgetting again. Did that last time and got a bit lost trying to renew later on.
Oh, don't worry, don't do that as the renewals are not cumulative and the application will remind you when the time comes - after that reminder you will also get a new button in the About tab of Preferences saying 'Renew Now' which will take you straight to the renewal page.
That was the other problem last time. Due to some PC issues I didn't have Xtreme installed at the time, and when I went to install and register it, I could not find the email with my pruduct key, hence I needed to email you for help with the renewal. Thanks, BTW.
Anyway, I don't currently have Xtreme on this little 2-in-1, but once I've made some adjustments to my desk I'll fire up my main rig and take a look at the improvements and new features of the latest build.
You can always read about those in the News section of the Winstep web site: the release announcements provide an highlight of the most important new features (with pretty pictures, eheh) as well as a full blown change log at the end (boring, but you can always admire its length

I know that I can look at the changelog and pretty pictures, but I like new toys and wanna play with 'em.
Unfortunately, I was made some BIOS adjustments, ones I had successfully done many times before, and now I can't get the beast to fire up. I tried several times after clearing the CMOS, etc, but it keeps looping back to the same error code, 0d, which according to the manual is reserved for a future error. And using the mobo disc to reset the BIOS does not work, so I will have to find another way. Hopefully a visit to the ASUS site will help me resolve the issue.
In the meantime, however, I do have a second big beastie that I can try out the latest and greatest Xtreme.
Nice updates!
Wow buddy!
Really nice updates!
Yeah, totally rad and totally cool. Best part about it, for me, that is, is that I rediscovered the way to reset the BIOS directly on the mobo and get my No1 big beastie going. Geez, my memory can be shocking at times. I should have known how, but it took a visit to the ASUS site to figure it out. I shall be doing that as soon as the vertigo settles down, then a few moments later I'll be viewing them on my new 35" widescreen monitor.
Oh how I love screen real estate.
For some reason, the volume control in the media player doesn't work for me.
Love the animations for dock icons, Jorge!!!
With the media control bar open (the bar with the green icons that pops up when you click on the Media Player icon) what happens when you roll the mouse scroll wheel down while playing music? It should change the volume.
Ok, that works. But the volume slider in the media player settings box does nothing.
Still working on the clock. See your forums, again.
Clock I have:

Clock I want:

Ok, after rebooting, I have the clock I want.
So, if I reboot I can have the bank account I want, the woman I want..... and a whole host of other things that haven't occurred to me just yet?
Seriously, it's amazing just how many things a simple reboot will fix. Yet so many people still take their PCs into the shop to get fixed when a simple "turning it off and turning it back on again" would have likely solved the issue.
Glad you got the clock you want, BTW. Personally, I prefer the old analog face. Digital clocks serve their purpose well enough, but they're too plain and many of the old 'dial' clocks are more 'dressed' and classy.
Ohhhhh, I see! It does after you press OK - the volume slider in the settings panel is not dynamic, it will only change the volume once you've pressed OK.
I actually wanted to add a volume slider to the media control bar itself, but I run out of time (if you read the 'What's next after v18.1' thread in the Winstep forums you'll see I only added the Media Player *after* the last beta, so it was a last minute inclusion).
Uh-oh. You're not going to like this then: those two are *automatic* formats of the *same* clock.
Modules normally only have two styles, and in the case of the clock those styles are digital and analog. The original digital style - the one you get by default - was based on the NeXT OS dock clock from all those years ago, and also features a calendar so there isn't much room for the time itself.

This means that the actual time can be difficult to read at lower icons sizes, unless you mouse over the module to magnify the icon. So, because some users complained about that and also because we already have a separate calendar module (making the calendar in the clock a bit redundant) I decided to add an alternate digital version in v18.3.
Now, remember that the goal here was to maximize the readability of the time itself at lower icon sizes, so the bigger the digits, the better - but I also wanted something that remained pleasant to the eye.
Under 24 hour format the hour always has two digits because of the leading zero, but under 12 hours format the hour only has one digit *most of the time*. With a single digit for the hour I could make the text bigger (and thus more readable) but with two digits I would have to lower the font size for the time to fit in the space available. So, for the 12 hour clock I basically decided to make two different versions of the same clock, one displayed when the hour only has 1 digit, the other displayed when the hour has two digits.
This way I achieved my goal of maximizing time readability at lower icon sizes (apparently at the price of confusing the users lol).
So, you got the clock you wanted not because of the reboot, but because the time changed. ![]()
So, you're saying that when I get back to a single digit hour, it'll revert?
Oh come on, man. You can do better.....
LOL. I'm having a strong sense of Deja Vu. ![]()
You're using as a desktop module a clock style that was intended to be used only in the dock/Shelf, where that format switching makes sense because the goal is to maximize readability of the time. You can, but... ![]()
As I work on a new release I usually write about the features I'm adding as I add them (see the 'What's new in V<xx.xx> threads' in the Winstep Forums). THEN is the time to give feedback so things can still be changed/fine tuned before the official release. ![]()
You weren't paying attention and this is what you get ehehehe
Thing is, Jorge, reading isn't one of RND's strongest attributes. 'Enter' and 'Exit' he can handle, but anything else is a bit of a bull at a gate mentality....... bung it in and see if he can work it out as he goes. So when you say"RTFM", he looks at the front cover and throws it over his shoulder, carries on regardless
And I've yet to meet a redneck who can't fix anything with a screwdriver and/or hammer. Yup, give him time and he'll get the clock he wants
Sorry, Jim not really, I'm just in a sassy mood.
LOL
My eyes !!!
