Game hangs at loading screens

I just bought the game on Steam. The intro video won't play, so I disabled it in the menu.

When I click Tutorial (or any means of starting a new game) I get a loading screen. The cursor moves and music plays, but I never progress past this point.

Any ideas? I updated my video drivers but it made no difference.

I tried a lot of different things, but strangely what seems to fix it is just to launch LegendaryHeroes.exe instead of launching the game from Steam or using the shortcut created by Steam.

When I was having this issue, the load screens had no progress bar. With the issue resolved, I see the progress bar fill up and then the game interface appears as you would expect.

Hope this will help anyone who has the same issue.
