Learning Curve Difficulties

I love 4X Strategy Games, so when I heard that this game was coming out, I jumped at the opportunity to buy it with all the perks that came with the Founder edition. Sadly, my computer broke shortly thereafter. School was the focal point of my life at the time, so I put off getting a new computer until recently.

Anyway, I am having a really hard time getting into this game and past the learning curve. I am used to games like Civilization or the Endless series, but this game is, for some reason, rather overwhelming. Do any of you guys have any tips to help me get past that learning curve?

Don't design any new races until you play through with the standard races.

Start with a medium or large map with only a handful of races...  2-6

Play as the standard humans to start with.

Beyond that, what areas or concepts are you getting stuck on?

Honestly, it's the management of planets. I'm just not used to the only having a limited number of tiles on a planet to build structures, so I am not used to trying to figure out what to focus on, whether it be raw production, economic output, tourism, influence, etc. And I also feel kind of overwhelmed by the ship improvement process, like the mass of various additions and the different types of weaponry. Thank you, though, for your response already!

Plan to lose......

Save often.    go back to previous saves if an idea does not work.

Because of the adjacency bonuses it is best to focus on one thing for each planet.

Start by building one planet with all the manufacturing stuff...and your next planet with all the research stuff.... and the next with some economy.

I'd suggest playing Benevolent or Malevolent first and focusing on that Ideology..  just go all in on whichever you choose.

until you feel you are getting the hang of the planet stuff don't worry about the ship designer.   that is a game within a game and honestly while it is fun and DOES make better ships, it is not actually needed.

Remember the type of improvements matter improvements are buildings on planets. W.hen you line up the same type of building you get bonuses.

You should have some resources in space constructors is how you get them. mainly promethium, anti matter and duranthium to start off is most important. build as many colony ships as there are free planets in range. Exploration early is essential. Good thing you start out with a survey ship. You will notice dots in unexplored areas they are stars, and some of the planets are habital. When a dot turns into a star then you can left click on the star. Now in the lower left corner of the screen it will tell you wether you have habital planets, resources, and asteroids. You can mine only asteroids in your influence, and mining asteroids wont help if they are to far away.

To my opinion asteroids mines is the most important to spend your money on. To mine an asteroid click on it, and then look in the lower left corner there will be a box to build asteroid press it you will lose 100 credits for a gain of1 point of production on the nearest planet. Everything is calculated on the planet starting with production.

To use a resource on a planet you need to improve it. Resources help you build things different space, and planet resources build different things.

I recommend building a shipyard right off the bat. Then factory stuff next.
