Match Error Occurred

So I posted about this in Discord and was told that my issue was posted to an internal board of some kind, but I'm just going to go ahead and double post in hopes of getting this issue resolved sooner rather than later.

Everytime I join a ranked queue, I get a "Match Error Occurred" Message where it would usually say "waiting for players" or "forming team".

My log seems to point to an HTTP error, stating "OnMatchMakerStatus: Notification status type is error: set_fail_handler: 20: Invalid HTTP status."

When I tell steam to validate offworld files, it consistently says 1 file failed to validate, and I redownload a 14.1 MB file. After downloading, it will still say the same validation error.

I have reinstalled Offworld, restarted my computer, restarted my router, nothing seems to work, and I have no idea what would have changed which is causing this error (I did do a cache clear this morning on my browser, and reset my DNS)

Below is the complete log file if that helps, thanks for your support!

Hello, couple of questions for you.

1) Was it working for you previously and just now started having problems?

2) Are you running any firewalls, or anything else that would interfere with your connection such as Wireshark or Fiddler? If so can you try disabling your firewall (even the default Windows one) to test it?

Hello, thank you for your response!

1) Offworld has worked fine for the last 3 weeks or so that I have been playing it, randomly started giving me this error yesterday.

2) I have the standard Windows firewall, Offworld is on the "allowed list". I disabled my firewall just to check and I still get the same error I have been getting when trying to connect to any kind of ranked match. I do not have any antivirus installed.

That error suggests there was a timeout trying to upgrade an HTTP Request to a Websocket.   This is usually caused by a slow/laggy connection or possibly something that is blocking the connection like a firewall or proxy.

Have you had any change to your internet service recently, or do you have multiple people consuming alot of bandwidth at the times you are experiencing this problem?  Or any other changes to your system/network that my affect network traffic?

I am the only person on my network, I have no proxy setup. Internet service has not changed.

I turned off my firewall and still got the same error when trying to connect to a Ranked match. Not sure what else to do...

I've added all of the .exe files in the steam/steamapps/common/offworld (Offworld, Stardock Launcher, and Updater) to my firewall exceptions list, still doesn't work.

Is there some other file or file location I should be adding to my firewall exceptions?

However, like I said previously, even turning off my firewall did not fix this issue, so maybe this doesn't even matter..

My guess (and I really have no idea), is that it has something to do with the fact that every time I tell Steam to validate Offworld files, it has to redownload the same 14MB file. I have deleted the Offworld folder from steam after uninstalling, then reinstalled, and still get this same file validation issue.

After uninstalling the game, deleting all files in steamapps/common, then reinstalling, I validated the game with 0 errors. I then launched the game, got the same bug I've been getting, then validated the game files again and got the "1 file needs to be re-downloaded" message.

The 1 file message is not a problem and is (frustratingly) expected.

Some questions:

-Is this new:

C:/Users/will/OneDrive

That you are mapping your MyDocs to OneDrive?

-Is this a laptop?  If so, and you take it to another location with Internet does it work?

-If not, disable this in the Steam settings:

Go to:
\Documents\My Games

Rename Offworld to Offworld_Old
Try to run the game again.

-If that fails, do a clean boot:

Create a new Windows Administrator (<--important that its an Administrator) account:

Windows 7:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-7

Windows 10:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/create-a-local-user-account-in-windows-10

Windows 8:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-8

Log in under that account and try.  If it fails, and while still under that account, please click the link below for performing a 'clean boot' under it:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

After you've loaded Windows in a clean state, please try once again.

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
Once you are booted into a clean state, you may need to Install the Steam service again. You can do so by trying to start up Steam. If Steam asks you to install the Steam service, simply hit "Install Service" and try to boot up Steam again:

Hello, thank you for your response! The OneDrive thing is strange, and even stranger that when I open Steam settings, that setting is not enabled (unchecked).

I installed Offworld on my laptop and it works from my home connection.

Edit: I created a new Admin user on my PC, rebooted, and same error persists.

Edit Edit: Did a clean boot of my system by disabling everything except Microsoft apps and turning off startup items as described in the link you provided - still getting the same error.

This post was interesting as even though I told my computer to save all docs to my local machine, Offworld is still trying to load/save from OneDrive. Maybe this could be the issue as pointed out by someone on Discord?

Well I finally got Offworld to look in my local documents folder rather than in Onedrive, however the issue still persists :/

Do I need to port forward something possibly?

No, you shouldn't need any port forwarding.

So, it appears that you were able to get into ranked matches on Feb 28th, and then something happened where is started failing.  So I'm curious if there was something installed around this time that may be causing the problem.  You can check this by going to your control panel, open up Programs -> Programs and Features, then sort by "Installed On", did you have anything that was installed on/near Feb 28th or March 1st.

Also, just to verify you are not going through any proxy, if you go to this address ( https://www.whatismyip.com/ ) to see your IP address on both your laptop and game computer, do you get the same IP?

My laptop and my PC actually have the same Public IP, but different Local IP addresses. Both my PC and my laptop are currently set to IPv4 "Obtain IP automatically". I was told Offworld can run on static or on dynamic IP.

No programs were installed around the time that this error occurred.

The only thing I did the day it stopped working was to flush my DNS because twitch videos were not loading. Did a command prompt, ipconfig/flushdns

I know I've mentioned this on Discord, not sure if I have on this thread..

I can connect and play Lobby Games, its only the Ranked servers that gives me this error.

Was there a mini patch or fixes done to the Ranked servers around 3/1/18 which would be causing this?

I did a Windows system restore to an automatic save back before I had this issue, have tried clean booting, turning off firewall, uninstalling/reinstalling steam and Offworld and nothing seems to work..

One things I have noticed is that on my laptop, there is a new feature that shows how many players are waiting in the 4P FFA queue when you join the queue.

On my PC, it has always only displayed how many players were in the 1v1 queue, but not in the 4player queue. Is this a new feature that was added recently, and potentially the cause of my issue?

That shouldn't have an impact on your ability to join queue, most players are currently missing this FFA count. Does your laptop have Jupiter's Forge installed?

Yes both machines have all DLCs installed, I have tried removing different DLCs on my PC and still doesn't work. Any chance this issue ever gets resolved or is it just a complete mystery?

I keep getting the error message: Your Path system environment variable does not contain "Windows\system32". When I try to start up the game from my Steam library.. .

This is for a different game but the process is the same:

This thread has changed a bit over time so it difficult to tell what issue you are referring to.
