Any malicious stuff on WinCustomize?

Hi again!

I have been using some of Stardock's products for a good length of time now and have to say I love em! Especially Start 10 and WindowBlinds 10. I found out that Stardock and it's products along with this Wincustomize site has been around for quite a long time. I just had one question or concern. Is there a possibility that there is content on this site that is malicious and if yes what should I look out for? Thanks!

Been here over 10 years and many longer. None that I know of and if any of the comments get a bit on the not so good side they get deleted. No politics here either which make it great at least for me.

good people moderate this place.

You don't have to " Look Out " for anything ..

Keeping Windows Up To Date will allow the latest versions

of our Software running as it should .

If you have a problem just post it here in the forum and

we'll do our best to get you a fix soon as possible ..

There is no 'malicious' content within Stardock's software.

However, by the nature of its close involvement within the Operating System some less-than-good AntiVirus software will report what is known as a 'False Positive'.  That is specifically a fault with the standard of AV program design, and not with the program/s it may flag incorrectly.

Also, it's the prime reason we typically reject any uploads of executable content [exe files].

As for Forum content [and embedded off-site links] they are policed and removed if necessary...;)

I've been a member here for almost 15 years and have never encountered anything malicious from Wincustomize or in any Stardock products downloaded via Stardock.  I can't say anything for Stardock software downloaded from other sites, other than I don't advise it.  Some sites bundle good software with other unwanted stuff, some of which could be malicious.... and others may not have the licensing rights to offer it.  So to stay safe, always get your Stardock software from Stardock.

As for skins, let's just say that there aren't too many reputable skinning sites left anymore, so it's probably best to download your skins from Wincustomize as well.
