Okay, I think I've solved the problem of sideways pics, just by activating Windows Photo Viewer and making it the default.  I just successfully uploaded a pic of me and my bowdler over on Frogboy's dog thread.

Anyhow, I'll see if I can successfully replicate the feat with a progress pic of my new build.

So this is it thus far.  Some of the cable management stuff turned up so I've been able to make some more progress with tidying things up.  The large cable going from the back to the front is actually six SATA cables bundled into that stretchy braided cable protector.

Anyhow, it seems as though my 'sideways' issue has been solved and I'll take my new build stuff back to it's own thread.

:) :)

Well, I know if I take a picture with my cellphone I often have issues of them not showing up in the proper orientation when I upload them somewhere. I have to rotate them the other direction for them to show up correctly even though they looked fine on my computer.

That seemed to be the problem when using Shaunna's iPhone, and no amount of correction would allow me to post pics up the right way.  However, I have since reverted back to using my Nokia Lumia 820 Windows Phone 8, which takes pretty decent pics, and I can now take my own.  There's no orientation issues with my Windows phone, either.

I was using an Android phone to access banking apps not on Windows Phone, but I never really liked it and it would never show up on my PC when I took photos I wanted to upload to my PC.

All's well that ends well. :)

And the pocket aircraft carrier I have tied up in the harbour. ;P    :w00t:

Actually, this machine is going to need every watt, what with all the stuff that's going in it.  Although I've changed my mind on a few things, there 'll be 13 HDDs; 8 SSDs; 2 M.2 SSDs, plus all the other regular stuff and then some.

Rnd...youneed to know that what you see on you computer is actually what you get.
Well, that said, the pic wasn't sideways on my computer, but was in the forums. Until I cropped and resized.  That is what I do know....

Image viewers can be 'intelligent' and correct orientation on the fly....so when you look at a stored image it is corrected for you.

Run the same image through a proper graphics program and it will load exactly as saved...upside down whatever.

It will need correction/rotation within the graphics proggy and be resaved prior to upload.

Interestingly that same viewer will show it the same way still....as if you never altered it.

When it comes to images from mobile phones....there needs to be an error message in the viewer that says "OTHER WAY, MORON YER UPSIDE DOWN AGAIN".

Of couse it all could be messed up because some of us on this planet are upside down already...;)

The new editor doesn't work on the Silk browser on my Kindle.  No text box to enter text in the quick reply area.  I'm going to be traveling out of the country for the next month, and that will be my only access to this forum.

For the record, it is right side up in Photoshop as well....

And I was gonna show that here, but apparently there is an image upload count limit/restriction. I am not allowed any more images. That is a huge step backward.

I had the same problem with my iPad. I cleared the cache, now I can post. Didn't try to upload a picture though.

Is this an error and if not, is the limit on a per thread basis or what exactly?

I got the upload limit message as well, but I was able to upload the pic of my new build a few hours later, so it may be a time thing as to how many pics you can upload in an hour, or something like that.  It may just be a matter of waiting a while.

:)

Thanks Mark. I posted a thread about it.  If there are limits and rules, we need to be aware of them, in order to regulate ourselves.  So maybe we'll get some info on it.

Yeah, it would be good to know what the situation is, and what we can or can't do.

I think the image upload limit, however, may be something to do with too many images being uploaded in a short period of time and possibly overloading the servers.  It may be an automatic thing built into the system to protect the forums from overload and the site from slow-down.

That's just my guess, though, and when image uploads have slowed and returned to normal, you'll be able to post again.  Hopefully, somebody with more knowledge on the matter than I with respond to your thread and clarify the situation for us.

Again, RND, check that PS doesn't have an 'auto orientation' option checked too.

An image file only exists in one orientation - that which relates to which way up the camera is.

If a camera is upside down the image will be also.  We are talking data file recorded directly to the camera/whatever.

Clever image correction 'tools' simply make fools of us all.

They should never be used, but instead corrected manually so that no matter what format or viewing method used they are always correct as expected...;)
