Mission to ship resources to other planets

I would like to see a shipyard mission to ship resources from one planet to another to help building stuff. It could be called something like "Resource transport" and on arrival at its destination it would then contribute like 80% of its resource cost to the social production of the planet (the remaining 20% were needed to build and fuel the transport ships). The same could go for a second mission type to provide military production.

That would make empires possible where you only have a few highly developed planets and a lot of others that only provide resources to them. To make that a viable path you would have to introduce more expensive high-level improvements though, otherwise the planets could max out too fast with the current set of improvements if they are supplied by a bunch of resource planets.

The only problem with that is right now that the mission mechanism would have to be adjusted so that the entry of a specific target is possible.

Alternatively there could also be a new ship type "Resource transport" that is built like a normal ship in the shipyard, but instead of loading colonists or legions it can load social or military resources and unload those at a target planet. That would have the advantage that the mission mechanic would not have to be changed, but of course you would have to implement the resource load/unload mechanic ;)

This would make the whole "food/resources are a civilization-wide resource" mechanic more believable. I mean, yes, it's not vital but it adds to immersion a little bit - your enemies get to destroy convoys heading to a certain planet with food/resources is part of a seige and all of a sudden that planet falls. Also, of course, it's something the Pirates would do (the destroying of and/or looting of ships).

Much as you and I like the idea, lyssailcor, I fear the vast majority won't because it means the use of military becomes more "protect the convoy from an attack that may not come" and less "go kill some enemy stuff!" Less "fun". And if your ideas on getting planets don't include "starve the population until they agree to flip or they're dead!", that's no fun either. Although that was always my favourite way of winning "Command and Conquer": use a stealth tank to block the harvestor from leaving the tiberium field (If you destroyed it, you got attacked but the AI never figured out what to do if the harvester was obviously blocked from leaving the field), engineer rush the refineries and silos containing stored tiberium and sell those, then watch as the enemy has to sell everything to fix the structures you attacked...:)

"Fun" is a matter of personal taste ... :/

I would like to see more mission.  You should be able to have a mission to find any resource needed. I played a long game recently and was looking for this resources which I didn't find till mid or late game.  I should have been able to have a mission to get said resource instead of hoping I find it on a planet with may or may not eventually have said resource.

There are mods that address this if you're willing to use them.  Check the GC3 mods on the nexusmods.com site.

In every game it's another resource that I'm missing ;)

So as suggested elsewhere some kind of black market to trade for resources would be great. Apart from that you can always try to trade with the other races to gain resources you need.

Well, I would note that the lack of a planet that had certain resources in MY empire, has been the downfall of many another empire that happened to have one planets handy.

Culture flipping a single planet with a culture focused starbase is another option and quite doable since V2.0 and it rarely is enough to start a war, if you're not in mood for that but still need some specific resource.
