Groupy Doesn't Work With Some Older Applications - Here's why

Groupy is great so far. But I can't get it to work with my fairly ancient (by computing standards) Corel Ventura 10 (desktop publishing program). When opening documents in Ventura, Groupy does nothing - no grouping of Ventura documents in a single Ventura window. Groupy is completely missing in action.

I realize that Ventura 10 is 14-years old (heck we threw a Bar Mitzvah for it last year) O:) .

And now I understand why -- and I thought I'd share this with others just in case you run into the same issue.

Ventura doesn't open different documents in a separate instance of Ventura like, for example, Microsoft Word does. Instead, you switch between documents in Ventura via its menus. Consequently, there just aren't different windows of Ventura to group together. It took a few minutes to realize this and I strongly suspect that other Groupy users may run into the same issue with their very old applications.

So while you can group the Ventura window with other applications, multiple open documents in Ventura will continue to appear in just the single Ventura window. So it goes.

Those older applications with multiple child windows within a parent window cannot be supported for grouping each individual window as they were not designed to have those windows as top level windows which groupy requires to group them.

Thankfully applications of that style are incredibly rare now.
