Gal Civ won't load up after new Windows update

I have been playing Gal Civ for 2 years no problems. A few days ago Windows had a fairly big update and now my game won't load when I click on it.

With 2.61 it gave me this error "DirectX DirectInput" failed or something like that. It gave me a "Yes or No" screen. I pressed both options and the game still doesn't work. I updated to 2.71 and now it doesn't even give me that error screen. It just immediately drops the game and doesn't work.

I have Direct X 12 and I meet all the system requirements for the computer.

I don't know if the Windows update killed my DirectX or if the update did something to a program/app that is interfering with it loading up.

Can someone please help me?

Usual steps. Check if all your drivers are up to date. Try to reinstall Directx. Verify integrity of game cache.

Open up your debug.err.  Near the bottom (or search), you likely have something like this:

InitializeGalCiv3DrawManager FAILED to initialize the device.
Debug Message:  GetD3D11Device: Device is NULL

If you do, burn your video drivers and reinstall.
