I just love dogs

I have 3 children. I love them to pieces.

But dogs? Obviously not in the same league but holy cow there is just something so touching in their unconditional devotion.

Sometimes, especially with the smarter ones, their similarities to small children can be uncanny. For instance, my 6 year old Entlevucher brings her stuffed dinosaur to bed every night, she just sleeps with it.

Who else here feels the same?

I do like the Milk Thistle.  Even if the root cause is allergic, I found that my allergies are better with it.   It's like the liver better processes "foreign agents" if it functions better, and that includes false enemies, like ragweed, cats...yourself... (autoimmune).   Also works for hangovers (which for dogs is when they eat too much bread).

I'm glad I wasn't in Melbourne when that freak storm happened, and all those allergy deaths.

I can't get him in to see the vet for a few days so I will give Milk Thistle a try and see if it helps control the itching.... or better yet, cure it.  The poor little bloke gets so frantic with it sometimes and whines in frustration.  Apart from the anti-histamines, I've been dabbing Pinetarsil on him with cotton wool as well.  It does help relieve the itch for a while, but it's still just a temporary measure.

As for bread, I don't let Buddy have it, nor do I let him have cake or cookies, etc.  None of that stuff is good for dogs, so it's off his menu.  However, I do give him vegetables, like carrot, mashed potato, cauliflower and swede, etc.  He loves those, especially mashed potato and pumpkin.  I supplement his diet of meat products with vegies regularly... just no onion, peas, corn or cabbage, as they can cause colic and bloating.

The little so n' so surprises me often: like the time I had him in my lap while eating a banana at the computer.  I put half the banana down because I needed both hands to do something, and he snatched and ate it.  Another time we had pizzas and a piece of pineapple fell on the floor: guess who picked it up and ate it.  To be sure it wasn't a one-off, I gave him a couple more pieces and he ate those, too.  Yup, he's a funny little dog.

My dog once wanted a banana from me, but when I gave him a piece he ate it happily, then turn around and vomited it back on the carpet. Guess he realized too late that he doesn't like the taste! lol

The dog we used to have happily ate our leftovers but if we used green pepper/capsicum in the meal it was incredible how dilligently she'd eat everything else in her bowl and lick any juice off the bits of capsicum but leave the little bits...

Has anyone else noticed how dogfood used to say "Not Fit For Human Consumption" (and looking it at you could see why!) and now it says "Not Intended For Human Consumption" and looks like actually not a bad casserole-type meal...

Well I've had Buddy on Milk Thistle for about 3 weeks now and his itching has improved greatly.  I use in conjunction with Polaramine, an antihistamine used to help with allergies and he's not biting or scratching anywhere near as much so his fur is starting to grow back, so many thanks for the tip, Buddy and I very much appreciate it

On a side note, I also began taking Milk Thistle because it was mentioned in an article that I read on it that it is good for people with type 2 diabetes and can help bring blood sugar levels down.  Well I've been on it for the same time as Buddy and I have noticed improvements in my blood sugar levels.
