i know i have seen it but now i cant find the correct file again.

Also, is there a parameter that defines starting ship location relative to a star base/shipyard?

BattleBehaviorDefs.xml

There is a battle behavior definition for starbases/shipyards in this file where you can set their starting position.

thanks,  that file is only in the vanilla folder.  I assume crusade is reading it.  If i mod it should it go in crusade mods or vanilla mods (as it came from vanilla)?

Crusade mods.  I know it reads it from there.  Not sure if it would still be read for Crusade from the vanilla folder.

Curious.  What are you setting the starting position for starbases to?  I altered this in my battle behavior mod to try and get starbases to fight with the defending fleet instead of in a 2nd engagement after defenders were destroyed.  Still not sure how effective my effort was.

i'll do some testing on the number (distance) and let you know. Was planning to start with something around fighter range

Fighters still have to close to fire at each other.  I thought I put the starbases at 2400 or so, but my mod currently has 1500 (scratches head).

Another way to achieve the similar results is to boost starbase/ shipyard weapon ranges.  I upped them +50%.

Huge issue with crusade for me is the battleviewer and tbh outside of the most workshop ships still only animating basic kinetic is the biggest issue.

I may be doing something wrong but modding that file does nothing for me. Ships still start on top of eachother regardless of what you mod that file. in GC3 it worked but i cannot get my crusade game to change.

Where did you put the modded file?

I tried everything i could think of

Crusade mod folder, then tried to edit the original game file in place to see if i could get it to do anything. Tried to put the modded file even in the crusade game directory.

This was awhile ago so i may have made a newb mistake i cannot remember. I just chalked it up to the game not using/looking for those commands anymore.
