More than 1 option to upgrade improvements

Hey there, I just had the idea to enable specific colony capital upgrades with some techs I added to the master tech tree and it seems like having multiple possible upgrades to one improvement does not work.

It only takes the first one it reads from the ImprovementDefs and if you select any of the other option from the building list (they do show up there) it will still select the first one.

If I hide the first one behind a tech (that's not available to me at the moment) the second one still won't be buildable.

Any ideas on how to work around this?

kind regards,

wyver

I had wanted to do something like this in the Expanded Cities mod, but could not figure out how.  If you get it to work, please post here so that I can see how you did it.

hm, thanks and I`ll sure let you know.

Is there any possiblity to destroy Improvement X after Improvement Y has been constructed?

Would be a (kinda sucky) workaround, at least considering my idea. Being able to replace your colony capital would be kinda strong but balancable, but I haven' figured out how to destroy another improvement after completing one.

Well this stopped my mod dead in its tracks.

I just wanted to add an option to enhance certain structures using resources.   i.e. upgrade Xeno Factory to Enhanced Xeno Factory using 2 antimatter, Entertainment Center to Enhanced Entertainment Center using 1 Harmony Crystal, etc..   But I also wanted to be able to upgrade Xeno Factory to Mega.  Can't do that.

Sad to hear that this is still an issue. I sent a bug report about this in March 2016, ticket #TEZ-932-31274.

[edit] Then again don't get your hopes up as in January I got the following response on another Modding related (crash) issue:

Hello,

We don't support mods here in support.

You can choose mods still but we don't actually support them. We point everyone to the forums to obtain community help for modding.

Wll I mean it is not a bug strictly speaking... it simply wasn't designed for this. Horemvore opened the modding wishlist for these kinds of things. This item is actually not on it yet, I think.

And it really should be, I have been toyed around with the idea of splitting social and military manufacturing improvements but only starting after basic factories.

So yeah, multiple improvement upgrade paths would be a cool feature to add. I wouldn't get my hopes up for this at the moment though. I don't think they are paying man-hours for this or will do in the near future.
