There was a point when host migration worked, but that may have been before Escalation's release tbh, so some time ago. But yeah, it fails all the time now, so er, you can't kill the host in a big game :/
Of course they should fix this function but a brief work around could be, when the host is willing, is to let players stay on after they have been killed to keep watching. That way the host can remain with the original player. The ability to watch after being killed has also been asked for many times since the release of the original.
I've never been able to finish a game with my friend online without a crash for one of us since the release of Escalation. The save function is the only way we could get a game finished.
Game is stable for us in single player, so it's definitely something exclusive to multiplayer.
I almost never have problems in 1v1 2v2. But larger team games certainly are likely to have a crash.
Make sure you are running DX11 instead of DX12 as it's more stable. But we are aware of the issue of stability and it's being worked on. I believe the release with Vulkan support with also help some of the stability issues.
Can confirm 2.4 in August will feature DX12 stability improvements.
Good to hear, thanks for passing that on.
