Ground Combat upgrade?

Just wanted to find out if a more comprehensive ground combat system is being considered, or if the conversations just go into a black hole?  I haven't really seen a lot of DEV commentary where I have seen the conversations.

More comprehensive ground combat system pre or post Crusade. Pre Crusade the invasion was crap and the devs said so. Post Crusade they actually started doing something with it. Still needs some work, but it is a whole lot better than before. Not sure if they are or can port it back to the base game though.

I would actually disagree. The auto-resolve results in failure even with overwhelming odds, and the tactical game isn't really a game if all i do is plant all of my legions next to the capital.

I'm not trying to be unappreciative, but this feature needs to bake longer. Right now it's just a speed bump on my way to conquering the planet.

Likewise, if I stack all 5 of my legions next to the capital, I can knock off 10 defending, using conventional warfare.

Lets face it guys, ground and space combat sucks and Stardock is not talking about it.  Which in my humble opinion is a big mistake.

This is my concern, there's nothing coming in the way of "Yes, we will be fleshing that out more.....love getting the ideas!" or even "Take it or Leave it, this is what you get".

Personally, what I would like to see is turn-based model where you actually have to stage a campaign to conquer a planet (forces only move so many hexes per turn, so it takes time to conquer territory).    There is just so much potential for integrating ground combat into this game in the way of tech trees, race bonuses, ship modules, that it would be nice to hear if we're all just smoking the peyote.
