Issues wih Food and Farming

Where are the farms?

So I'm playing through the Campaign and having an issue. As far as i can tell I'm pretty far through all tech trees. What i don't understand is I can't build farms! I understand that for population growth you build cities, but I try and get the error *not enough food* yet no planet gives me an option on any tile to build a farm. Am I missing something?

The campaigns, when played from Crusade, are currently broken (except for the tutorial that came with Crusade). The developers are aware of the problem and are working on it.
