Custom Abilities/Traits - mod thoughts

GRM (guantlets) and Galactic Diversity Custom Traits (Deathwynd) are old trait/ability mods for GCIII.

It would be nice to have a stand alone mod (like GDC) which standardizes on a set of abilities before I (or others) go too far down converting over all races.

 

This way we could have a common set of aiblities/traits for races, I would like to start a discussion on this. Currently we have the following:

I would like some things like 

  • Hivemind - (fight and think and one) bonus to research and/or combat? 
  • Pirates - bonus starting speed/distance for ships?

Perhaps Privateers rather than Pirates; although it is sort of in the game now (via Commander upgrades).

I created one called "Displaced" that provides a Survey Ship, a Constructor and Colonizer.  The concept is that the fleet (inadvertently) went through a wormhole and deiced to start fresh (as their own faction now).  What ships were originally in that fleet are based on what a persons other choices are in the long run.  They can choose to start with the 2 more constructors, the other Survey Ship, or another Colonizer, etc.

That sounds like a cool idea, what you could do is mod up an empty star system (no starting planet) and then assign the faction to that star system.
