Advice For A Noob

Hey everyone. I just started playing AOTS a few days ago. I've been looking at youtube videos and a few websites to learn this game. There is a lot to learn. Any advice on good resources or links to youtube for lessons on not getting owned by the AI? Yes... :( owned on novice. I bumped the AI up a notch and BAMMMM!!! a brilliant white beam wiped out my whole base 2 times... There obviously must be a defense for this.

How do you get your engineer to build metal or radioactive things over several spots? Seen a guy doing it on youtube. but he didn't explain how he did it. I'm mainly doing skirmishes right now as I have come to a spot in the story that I can't pass yet. I'm doing it on normal. I';m at the 7th or 8th planet. I was thinking of trying online. but I'd probably get pwned in 2 minutes :(

Anyways... loving the game...not loving the frustration. So TIA for the advice :)

Game runs awesome on high. AMD 8370 CPU with an NVidia GTX 1060 6gb video card. 16gb of ddr3 1866 ram. All air cooled with 5 120mm fans in the case

Holding shift will let you queue up multiple commands for movement or buildings, an orbital nullifier will protect an area from abilities.

Das Unding is one of the best Ashes players so his videos should give a better idea on how to play the game. https://www.youtube.com/user/paulstanik/videos

Though I wouldn't put too much emphasis on Unding's Videos. He hasn't uploaded since the big balance patch 2.2 so a lot of things might be off there. You can also watch Priest's steam at https://twitch.tv/priestxes

Hope this helps.

A general rule I can give you is to always try to overproduce so your income goes a bit into the negatives. Sometimes you will have some economy spikes and things could go to waste. Producing things on negative income is as good as being even in the long run. This way you will never waste many resources. Of course, don't overdo this by going -20 on metal or radio.

I had 2 orbital nullifiers up with each circle slightly lapping each other. So my whole base was protected, but the orbital beam hit directly on my nexus and wiped out the majority of buildings around it. The 2nd beam wiped out my nexus. game over :(

Yes he has, he uploaded a video where he offered feedback on some of the balance changes.
