Migrating Crusade custom content

Hey folks,

Once you upgrade to Crusade, you will get a new "my games/GC3Crusade" folder for your custom content.  If you have subscribed to Steamworks content, Steam will automatically redownload the content into this new folder.  However, if you have created custom content that is not in Steamworks, you will need to manually copy it over:

Copy these folders:

My Games\GalCiv3\CustomMaps
My Games\GalCiv3\Designs
My Games\GalCiv3\Factions

Into My Games\GC3Crusade and you'll be all set.

A couple of notes:

  • Steamworks subscripted items should update when you run Crusade.
    • If you've subbed to a lot of content, it may take awhile for Steam to download it when you start up the game.
  • Your mileage with mods may vary.  I would suggest not copying over the mods until the author has had a chance to update them.
  • Save games from the original game are not compatible with Crusade.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

I have upgraded from Mercenaries to Crusade but have been unable to find my custom ships that I built in Mercenaries while playing crusade is there a way to pull those designs into crusade.

Are your ship designs not in the GalCiv3\Designs folder?

No I checked that folder it's really strange I created them in Mercenaries and when I upgraded my custom templates were not in crusades.

Well, ship designs go into the Designs folder.  Not having made any, I'm not sure where ship templates go.

I was just looking and none of the ships I have made myself in crusade or mercenaries reside in E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\Designs  where could the game be default putting these

They should be in Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Designs
