Would be awesome if the version was listed in my account. I have three versions and after the update of this totally buggy software I for the life of me cannot find the right key. Three versions that clearly are not the right version and none of them identify themselves as version 3.x. Who ever is running the versioning of this software needs to have their head examined because they are clueless how it is supposed to work.

O and by the way your support ticket system does not work!!!

Hi.

Sorry for the frustration.  The version you need is at https://store.stardock.com/download/3781

If you can provide more detail on what's broken with the support system we can look at that.

Is this a new version? It says 3.0.4.12, if it is a new version I still can't drag and drop a folder into a rolled up Fence.

That is scheduled for 3.0.5. Soonish I hope.

This is (almost) the same build as the beta released last week.

Thanks Zu. I'll stick with 3.0.3 for now.

I have reported bugs in the past.

(Fixed issue where details-view Folder Portals would not remember column order, size)

Modified is good.

But there is still a bug.

I am going to ask for correction in the future.

For example)

Tab size can not be freely changed in "details-view" option.

("Size" tab size changed when "Date modified" tab is adjusted after "size" tab adjustment)

Yeahh.......  This issue has been around since Fences 2.x.  It didn't magically appear when the Creator's Update was released..

Hi.

I've got version 3.0.4.12 of Fences and it's still got the 'icons taking up extra space' issue where my fences that used to show 12 or more icons now shows 6 with a scroll bar. I assume this is related to the Windows 10 Creator Edition as it's only happened recently.

Restarting Windows is the only way (to my knowledge) to fix it

Thanks!

Bug in Fences 3.04?

I use Windows 10 on two monitors,
When you download the file to the desktop or copy the file to the desktop,
A file icon is displayed at the upper left of the secondary monitor.
It is displayed in the upper left of the primary from the third file.
In Fences 3.03, it was displayed on the primary monitor from the first one.

The 3.0.4.12 update seems to have issues with Win10. The update means that fences loads a lot later than past version did or it does not fully load at all.

If it does not load when I try and run it the message I get is

Fences does not appear to be loaded.

You may need to reinstall Fences.

Such a message does not make much sense and is just an indication that the latest release has a problem.

Still has the bug where deleting a file on the desktop causes a rolled up Fence to send one of the files out of the Fence and onto the desktop.
Also can no longer move a file into a Fence that is rolled up without deselecting the rolled up option first.

Hi, ever since the update I have been unable to drag an icon or file from the desktop into a fence. Any advice on how to fix?  I am using Windows 7 and have no other Stardock Software installed.

Kudos to the latest update (3.0.4.12). I've had issues with those pesky icons jumping out of "Fences" on their own. Seems the latest brain surgery has worked and worked well.
In turn, after running the latest Fences for a week or so, I'm having an issue with not being able to drag icons into a rolled up fence. I haven't tried dragging a folder but it looks as if this issue has already been brought up.

Naming of icons has been a problem as well, when creating a new text file. 4 of my internet shortcuts got renamed to the text file name in numeric secession.

Sorry to be adding to a seemingly growing list, but thanks for the efforts made!! :-)

Peace

We are aware of the roll-up issue and working on a solution.

Happy to hear about the other issues.

I received a popup when I logged in a week or so ago informing me of an update. I accepted it, installed and am now on 3.04.12.

However, when I reboot, I'm told there's an update available. Which I've then downloaded, installed, etc. several times. If I refuse the download and go into the settings and ask it to check for an update it tells me none is available.

Essentially, whichever part of the software is checking to see if I'm on the latest version seems to fail at bootup and asks me to download the update every time I switch my machine on, even though the update is installed :(

I have a bug to report with this update.

In that i don't want it, i don't care about any of the new features, i have no problems at all with my current version, and do not want to update.

And yet i keep getting spam all over my desktop with fences popping up telling me a new update is available, one in which clicking 'yes' makes the pathetic 5x5 window into a useless web browser that goes to the store rather than, you know, updating the program, clicking 'no' does absolutely NOTHING and clicking the x in the top corner also does absolutely nothing. Going into settings, i have no ability to change if it will check for updates or even change how often it does it.

The only way for me to get rid of this quasi-virus popping up all over my desktop is to manually end the 'SdDisplay' task, every single time, multiple times a day.

This issue has been known since December 2012 when another user complained, and yet stardock apparently doesn't care.

Uninstalling. I've enjoyed stardock software in the past and enjoyed my time with fences, but this behavior is absolutely ridiculous. I won't be using any of your other software in the future.

Anyone else have problems with the scrollbar of a rollup portal fence with long lists?

When I click on and hold the scrollbar and move it right and let go in the center of a long list it will snap back to the front or end of the list automatically.

Suggestion: many file managers use double click to go up in folder structure instead Fence opens the folder, can you uniform with others to avoid users confusion?

To do this:

- Double click to go up in folder structure

- Remove rename clicking on title (only from setting)

- Double click on title to open folder

Thanks

The updater just doesn't want to download the file. Stops anywhere from 0% to 99%. I downloaded the update from this thread, but after reading that there may be issues with Windows 10 and that it might continue to nag even if I update, I guess I'll just wait for the next version. It's not like I really feel the need for the update.

I have the same issue with Win10 and it's extremely annoying. I get prompted to install the update every reboot yet the update breaks Fences when I install it. I have contacted the support group several times but customer service is abysmal. I have gotten an initial response to my support request and then nothing more. I am starting to wish I never purchased this software. It's a terrible way to treat paying customers.

All I want to do is turn off the update prompt I get every reboot. It is such an easy option to provide yet customer service is unwilling to respond to my requests. All major software companies provide it's customers with the ability to prevent auto-update prompts. Hopefully Stardock will become more customer service oriented in the future.

Due to poor customer service I cannot recommend purchasing Fences at this time.
