Fences not preserving view settings, and options for behaviour when clicking on fenced items

Hey Folks,

I'm having two issues with Fences - One feels like a bug, the other possibly a feature I can't find:

1) Fences seem to sometimes reverts to 'Classic Icons' in the view settings. This is extremely annoying for me, as I've spent time making every Fence the right size and view type, and now I have to check this every time I start my machine. Having a desktop tool that allows customisation, but has to be customised every time you start the machine is useless.

Anyone know a fix for this to preserve Fence icon details?

2) I would like to be able to set how an icon in a fence behaves when double clicked. My specific example - I want to make a folder in a fence actually OPEN the folder in it's own new window, and NOT within the Fence. We can do this manually with RMB and accessing it via a menu, but I'd like to streamline the process so every time I double click on that folder, it opens up.

Can we do this already? The settings don't seem to suggest so.

Cheers,

Dan

sdRohan,

I would like to start by saying that I very much appreciate your passion for quality support of a great product and completely understand the frustration of years of "issues" without the feedback or engagement that you've requested. That being the case I have made two videos of what I believe the group was attempting to express as I found this thread in my search for a solution to what sounds like the exact same annoyance.

As I am sure you are well aware, when navigating within the fence itself each folder has it's own set view which is maintained with no relation to a parent folder just as windows does by default. I've made a video of this functionality, more for other users participating on this thread than to explain what you already know, that can be found here: https://screenrec.com/share/U4rDGXNdCB

However, in windows there is a way via the 'folder and search options' menu within the the View ribbon of File Explorer that allows the user to apply that folders settings (view being the only one that matters for this threads topic) to all other folders, essentially assigning all folders the same view for uniformity sake without having to manually do so for each and every folder individually. An video of the feature in windows can be seen here: https://screenrec.com/share/CtZUXMAWPH. This feature that windows has is what I am and what I believe others are requesting for Fences.

If the view setting for all folders that are accessed via a particular fence could be assigned a particular view setting without having to manually set each folder individually, it would be greatly appreciated.  If each fence having it's own global view setting isn't possible then to have the ability to assign a default view setting of the users choosing to any fence unless changed individually would be completely sufficient for myself (Either scope, for individual fences or for all fences on that PC, would be sufficient for myself but I'm sure some users will still request that be an independent setting for each fence but perhaps that's unreasonable as I don't know the complexities of the code).

I appreciate you even taking the time to read this post and please let me know if there's anything else you need and I will do my best to provide it.

Thank you again,
Adam

This is exactly what I \ we want too.  It is very much on the list of things to have Fences set and\or observe.

It will happen; I just can't say when.

Thank you for the feedback, ajohns28.
