Sycloness #9421 I want to play too....
When are more founders going to get a chance to try out Crusade? I understand unpolished, I played back at the start of founders play. I really want to try out the new version. Please Brad ![]()
Same here, another Elite Founder trying to get a key unsuccessfully basically since day 1.
discord invite dead, or is my noscript just killing it? (appears to also be dead in opera)
The xpac comes out next Thursday on the 4th. So much for the wider Founders beta I guess.
Yeah you pay for Beta access then have to jump thru hoops like discord and still do not get code. Well not that they care but I will no longer be paying full price for anymore Stardock products. "Burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me". There will not be a burn me twice.
That said... Brad had originally told us that we founders would have a chance to play around Valentines day... I do wish a more public key release would have happened with the understanding that it was not finished.
But I also understand that Steam does not do that very well... the moment you can download something it is viewed as full release and people can and DO comment and review.
Pity you guys sold Impulse.... >.> <.<
Ive joined discord yeay me
I joined discord and asked once or twice for a key but when I started reading about the numbers of/severity of bugs and the number of builds that were being done I mentally applauded all the Founders who were doing the testing and said "there but for the grace of God go I.." I decided I'd rather forgo the early possession of Crusade and not have the gamebreaking bugs etc etc...
Discord link does not work, which sucks, I just read on reddit lifetime founders could get the key there
Too many haters in the past me thinks, I can hardly blame Brad for the selectivity.. If I had to put up with what he does on the forums I'd probably go insane and then kill myself..
I wish tho that they would've put up a beta steam key in the founders stardock accounts (so you could get one by logging into sd, then plugging the key into steam). But I'll just have to wait until next week - except I'll be busy. And gone the week after that, then busy again, so more like a month.. ;\
Selling Impulse, from what I can tell, was the right move for the company..

Nonsense. Steam does closed betas perfectly well. I've been part of several (both free and as part of pre-purchase deals), the last one only a few weeks ago. You can do a beta without the Steam review system being active so it doesn't create pre-launch scores as Early Access release does. As for commenting NDAs can cover that if the company wants to restrict information.
In fact, Stardock ran a Founders beta for Mercs through Steam last year without any issues.
There have been 1-2 Steam GCIII releases that have required a pw. The pw was posted on the support forum. There has been no release until now that was restricted to founders.
Aside from the Founders Beta.... before the release.
Also the Founders Beta had a whole bunch of people making terrible reviews even though the game SAID Pre-release in all the screens. Perhaps Steam has fixed some of their stuff but all of the early access titles have reviews available that often ruin the public perception of the game.
That said... now that they have the release date posted. It would be nice to see a founders key emailed or released to each founder. They should be able to do that fairly easy
Stardock wanted to go wider but there were/is some major problems on the Steam platform itself that is causing big problems and it was not possible/doable!
That is the reason Brad personally hand-did every Crusade beta tester on behalf of his time/consent and dignity. So there you go!
I do agree this system was not perfect and some of you have hurt feelings about it
All Lifetime founders will get Crusade regardless.
If you are going to sell as game as early access as Stardock did with GC3 it doesn't give you a free pass from getting negative reviews. Even with all these "terrible" reviews GC3 was sitting on a Steam rating of 81% just before it launched. It dropped nearly 10 points in between launch and the 1.1 patch. Which if anything suggests that the pre-release reviews are generous to the game at that point.
I still love Stardock. I really want to try some of the new features. As for bug testing I find it fun. I admit I like bug reporting in many of the MMOs (SOE games) I have tested. There you would report bugs directly to the developers and then if needed log in and show them.
I know it's out in less than a week, but any chance any more Founders will get early access to Crusade? Not complaining, mind.
I remember seeing a post from Frogboy that founders would get early access.
Hi guys.
Here's an update.
After the outcry over Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation being a stand-alone game we decided to make Crusade a DLC of GalCiv III instead of a stand-alone.
However, this has resulted in some unanticipated pain in getting it out to Founders.
In Steam, there is no system in place to do a beta of a DLC. Instead, we have to hand-give out codes to people and then tell them the beta branch password.
I had thought we would be able to find a way around this but every solution ultimately requires time/effort on Valve's part to manually do it.
As a result, I've been personally giving out keys and branch passwords to people via Discord.
I gave out around 100 keys to elite founders but as you can imagine, my schedule is pretty tight.
So sadly, for Crusade, we're going to just have to wait for near-release for most people.
I'm really sorry that it has been so much of a hassle. I know I've let some of you down and I apologize for that. I can't tell you how frustrating it is that something as major as Crusade has to be handled like a bloody DLC. It's ridiculous.
Many of us understand and just waiting for the 4th.
Thankyou for the long hours.
Seemed it was something like that.
Appreciate the explanation, and am looking forward to enjoying the fruits of your labors.
Thanks... I know I want to play now, but I can wait. I pretty much buy any game you make and will continue to do so.
Thanks for the feedback and for your effort trying to find a way to release early for all elites founders. I look forward for may 4th and see how Crusade unfold.
