Is the 1.9 update backwards compatible with the older mods?

Hey all, just got reminded of this game by the update news on steam. Was wondering if all mods that were made for version 1.8+ are compatible with the new version of the base game or if these mods have to be updated. I haven't played a mod-less version of SOASE for years now.

If it helps, the mods I use to play were the 4X mod, Sins of a Galactic Empire, Star wars Requiem and Distant stars.

Thanks for any info

Hi.

I'm interested in this as well. I was told that the new graphic option shows up as "no string found" with Distant Stars activated, thus assuming that the mod needs to be updated.

I imagine those mods may need to be updated depending on what version they were last updated for. The missing strings aren't fatal on their own.

I am sure mods (like Distant Stars, great, more work for me LOL) will need to be updated to give you the best experience possible.

Thank you, also thanks for all the work DS the team has put into DS, been playing it for years whenever I get the SOASE itch. Also with this new 'performance' patch you think DS will have bigger squadrons again? I remember they were shrunk ages ago to squeeze as much performance out of the engine.

It looks like missing bits result in a crash on the options screen from main menu in SOA2, but Goa's mods are working fine.

That would be Enhanced 4X and Star Wars Interregnum.

It seems many mods that worked for 1.86 have a good chance of working with 1.9, minus the missing strings in the options.

That is what I am finding as well.
