Modding of small-huge construction-time

Hi again,

short story: Ingame, no matter if its an easy or genius ai, at the first contact (after some rounds) mostly ai has already "orbital manufacturing". 10-20 rounds later nearly everyone has "zero gravity".

Means, the game pushes everyone to concentrate on researching those - if a slowdude doesnt, he will struggle soon.

In my opinion that is going way too fast. I would like around 100 rounds in "orbital manufact", then the ai and me reach "zero gravity", and maybe in round 250 we reach "large". I nearly never built a small hull ship and skipped it, cause they are nearly worthless some rounds later anyways.

to the mod-idea: I can edit the TechDefs.xml of every fraction and change the research time that is needed to finish the tech - but will it work? Iam afraid the ai still will try to get those techs as before and hangs 200 rounds just on getting the next hull size. But I want to slow down only this tech and want to force the ai and the player to concentrate on other techs, specalize the small hulls and make insane battles with lots of small ships, till it gets in the next "aera".

Any tips? Did someone think about that too before me?

btw, i tried playing with very slow and very fast research-rate, but it doesnt make much difference for the topic i wrote here.

Change the poistions of the Techs you want the AI to research later/earlier.

TBH though you should be using your Capsule research bonus's and Artifact free techs for this chain of techs :) (They are the most costly)

ty and yes ofc i should use it, but it makes it too easy, cause the ai doesnt change the researched tech like we do  - and without artifacts its boring.

wow and this works? I thought this is a combination of the race-traits, race-behaviour and how militant they are - AND this list. Ok, then i try it out. thx again.

the modding worked, but it doesnt fit ingame - the ai still makes fighters with 2 move and so on, even with ion drive teched. It seems i have to edit all blueprints for the ai...Maybe the ion drive is not made for small hulls :)

another problem is: the player still can use the tech earlier - imba advantage. This said i would have to remove zero/large/huge, that everyone can just play in small hulls...but this is not what i wanted.

I stop here with this try, too much work for me - and its not sure that after the work everything is functionally...
