No Population Growth

Ultimate Edition

I have the Ultimate Edition (ToA) and I have noticed with multiple races that the smaller planet in the solar system where they start does not grow its population beyond a certain point. I have not figured out whether that number is the same but it appears to be random and I've seen this not happen as well. For example, Mars got to 4.8b and just stopped growing...Torus got to 7.0b and stopped growing. Is there something I am doing wrong?

You have to correlate to Morale.  If Morale falls below a certain point (40%), the population will be too depressed to breed.  Also, I think Planet Quality factors into the growth rate and max pop, but I don't remember how.

Planet Quality does indeed hardcap the target population of a planet.

You can read out from the list at the bottom of this link

https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Population

how a specific PQ influences that. The wikia is quite outdated and alot of infos given in there isn't accurate anymore, but that specific info is still true - even in TotA.

edit:

and BTW, it only limits its own ability to grow more people. If you ferry population manually to such a planet, it will be able to cross these caps and sustain more people if just enough food happens to be there. If not, all excess people will starve at the beginning of a new turn.
