Need some Star Control info before preordering please read

Hello Everyone and thank you for answering my questions.
I heard of Star Control before but I never ever played any Star Control game

So before Spending $99 on the game, I need to know how the game will play, and what kind of game will it be.

  1. Will the game be Real time action/Adventure or turn Based?
  2. The combat game.  Super Melee will be like playing a real time Strategy game ala Homeworld or sins in small map with ships against ships?
  3. How many ships can you have in super Melee?
  4. Super Melee fights will be in 3D or 2D?
  5. Ok so you have your main Mother-ship that you go ahead level it up and upgrade, is that mother-ship big? Titan size?
  6. Will the Mother-ship release fighters when in a Super Melee fight?
  7. Do you conquer Planets?
  8. Are the Planets Upgrade-able? ( Defense Structures, research, Units building, resource, etc... )
  9. Can the Planets be Destroyed?
  10. Will you have Super Weapons?
  11. Will you have Small, Medium, Large, Capital size ships? ( Frigate, Battleship, Cruiser, Carrier, Destroyer, Dreadnought, Titan. )
  12. Will the planets have life in them? ( animals, non intelligent civilization, monsters, etc... )
  13. Will the planets be in different sizes? ( Small, Medium, Large, Huge. )
  14. Will we see different Planet types?  ( Lava Planet, Ice Planet, Desert Planet, Gas Planet, Iron Planet, Ocean Planet, Exoplanet, etc...)
  15. will you Have Dwarf Planets, Asteroids, Comets moving Randomly?
  16. Will Star Control have Random dangerous and powerful natural phenomena
  17. will the Game have random events like: ( An Asteroid Destroying a planet, a Comet hitting your main Ship, etc.. )
  18. Will planets Have Random heavy Weathers that will give you problems exploring planets?

Thank you in Advance for answering those questions, and I hope you can answer as many as you can.

This is not a real-time strategy game. It's closer to an adventure game.

I recommend playing Star Control 2 Ur-Quan Masters. You can get an open source version of the game from here.

Have you seen the reveal trailer? If not, check it out. It'll answer some of your questions. Also, read the update threads here when you have a chance. We're under NDA to reveal particular details about SCO, but I can answer some questions.

SCO is not an RTS. That should answer most of your questions. It is real time adventure and real time combat, much like original Star Control 2 (Ur-Quan Masters) only bigger, better and badder.

Developers are keeping us in the dark about many game details for various reasons: spoilers, not tested, game design isn't set in stone, too rough to reveal, feedback isn't needed etc. The Founders forum only blows up for a week or so when we get the monthly update for feedback. The rest of the month it's pretty much dead. We tried to convince them to spread out the update weekly or bi-weekly to keep the forum alive, but it never happened. My guess is that they're too busy coding. Also, only about 1% of the founders are active on the forum. A lot of them just don't care to participate in the game development discussion. One thing is true - every single post in Founders forum gets read by Stardock.

Is it worth $100 to me? I'd say more yes than no, since it's the game + lifetime pass + development insider info.

hmmm

thank you. I did gave it a Try and played it for like 20 minutes, i will keep playing it for a little more to understand better the game..

so far.... its been really basic and repetitive when you go into a planet to pick up radioactives, etc...

just was doing the first mission with the space station but did not finish it, still i don't understand when the ship pick up some and then i guess it gets full

then i go back to the mother-ship and cannot find a way to unload what i picked up, weird DOS game lol.

Yes i did see the trailer like 20 times and it looks interesting, just going around a planets picking up Iron and other thing to upgrade and do missions like ( go pick up 50 irons from this planet and bring it back to me and flying around Milcky Way from planet to planet picking up ore) is that all?

when your fighting or doing Super Melee is always 1 ship against a bunch? there is no group of ships?

I am just trying to understand what kind of game will it be and what features will it have and use

so far it does look that it will be a Real time game and that's great but what else?

I am not asking for videos or pictures of the in game but some more info so i can make a decision for buying the game.

I hope any of the dev's can answer my questions

Update: I did play more Ur-Quan Masters, and did try Super melee, this game may not be for me, but I will wait to see more videos and ingame play before I make my decision

Thank you guys.

If you can't figure out the basics then likely the game is like you say not for you. Star control is Immense and extremely immersive, if you can only figure out how to mine planets and that's it, i'm sorry to say you will not be able to experience this awesome universe in the way it all is combined to create this unique experience.

How much technology have you researched yet ? What have you equipped your ship with ? What Alien races have you met and what negotiations and trade deals have you established ?

What advice have you taken and whom have you helped thus far ?

What and how many fighters do you have on board ? What intelligence have you mined and found on planets, where have you been in the universe so far, how many races have you discovered ? These are just a few basic questions, the immersiveness of this brilliant game can only be experienced once you understand the plot, the Alien races how they move, communicate and figuring out what their intentions are, mining is fun when you start to find exotic planets with rare minerals, and the new Stardock Star Control mining i cannot wait to experience, the planets, the minerals the conditions, the landers, perhaps a basic base with a refinery, repair bay and caryalls.... but the game is definitely not just about mining.

It is an awesome adventure and the ultimate universe exploration experience ! ! Aliens are weird, Especially in Star Control, that's why it's so Awesome, if that scares you, go play finding nemo or something ;)
