All new/updated skins are now Master Skins!

I know that some are updates and some are new but the focus is more towards Master skins.

That page shows skins by the date they were initially approved or re-approved, simple logic. There are only about 6 skinners left who create Windowblinds skins now. I do free skins often, so does DaveBax and don5318 does all free skins. vStyler no longer does WB skins, basj does occasionally and neone6 and Vampothika only do Master Skins. There are virtually NO other active WB skinners left.

I produce new skins as Master Skins and like I said free skins also, and I am updating all my Master Skins to work with Windows 10 in alphabetical order.  We as skinners have no control as to how they are displayed on the site, and if only Master Skins come in... well that's what users will see.

People continuously pointing this out on the site will make no difference at all, you should be happy there are any WB skinners left at all.

I am.    I sincerely doubt anyone is getting hurled into the "Top 1%" income bracket with this endeavor, I'm happy to buy you the occasional package of bologna. 

Most skinners aren't likely to update older free skins to Windows 10. Lightstar does, now and then.

With the advent of each new OS from MS there is a natural incentive for existing Master skins to be updated to be compatible with the new OS.

Nothing sinister about it at all...;)

Thanks for reminding me I've had my eye on Trex and Mira for awhile now... I should really check out TEK too.

I bought vStylers entire offering when he was shutting down his site.  If he is in graphics still there's probably a lot more money in making Graphics Assets for Games.  Or in online Training productions commercial and Corporate websites etc.   Just guessing.

I have been a member of WC for 13 years and have appreciated the work of SD and the various skin contributors. However, all too many of the various WB, IP and Dream contributions that I have downloaded have only contributed to disc bloat: not from a lack of quality, but they were simply not my style. This is why I won't waste money on a Master skin, not because it isn't a quality work, but because it may not appeal to my tastes.

Perhaps if there were some trial mechanism for Master Skins, I would be more interested in looking at the work of the Masters!

Well considering that doing WB skins consumes A LOT of time, it doesn't make me wonder anymore. I have critisized the same some time ago (and I apologize especially to Lightstar about that), but thinking a bit more about it, it is all clear with me. Having done and redone a few myself in ancient times I won't even imagine how long I would need nowadays to do a WB skin being in full deployment and having a small company besides. Apart from there are many more parts to skin now.

The fact remains that there aren't as many skinners of WB as there used to be. Here's another take on the situation. Bitching about this isn't helping anything. If you can't afford it you can't have it. That's how it works. I've had to tighten my belt considerably in the last few years. That is a fact of life now a days. Master skinners have a right to sell their work. That's how it works. Quit bitching.

Master skins are made by Masters! A title earned over a long period of time with lots of sweat and tears. Admittedly they won't be to everyone's liking but the quality and hard work that goes into them...look at Neone6 and Vampothika...Lightstar and Dave Bax...Adni18 among others, IMO make them well worth the few bucks charged for them. Go to an art store and see if you can buy a print for that amount. Not gonna happen. So...making a short story shorter, buy or don't buy...your choice.

Why would you want a skin that wasn't a Master skin?

Greg. With the skinners left here all skins are made with the best quality. I know what the others make and the quality is all the same. very good with no shortcuts because it's a free one. Some may be a bit plainer so to speak. I know I upload many more free ones than Master skins. All the people here helped me get to Master. Some with advice and help. The nice comments and downloads. I enjoy giving back with free skins made with the same quality as any skin made.

Saying all the above. I would like to see some skins that needed some work and the skinner needing help. That would mean we have additional skinners trying to work their way up the ladder. Sadly that isn't the case right now.

I would say that the future of windowblinds  is slowly going downhill. Not many skinners anymore, and you have to pay for most of the ones that are  being made.Very sad.

I for one am happy there are still skinners around! With out you guys, there would be no WinCustomize/Stardock.

I wondered about vStyler and some of the others, now I know.

I'm in my 70's. Anyone want to be my Apprentice. LOL.
