How does ranking really works?

Last thursday and this thursday I was neck on neck with Danail for the first place for few points difference, I was still rank 1 at 16:50 (GMT + 2 Easter Europe Time) nad at 17:00 the ladder is set and the gap beetwen me and Danail is more than 10 points?

How is that possible, is something that I am missing?

First season same thing happened - turns out the stats for final positions in ranking are taken at somebody's pleasure a day or two before actual season end.
