Who Else Doesn't Like The New Look Forums?

So who else, as title asks, and it's a simple question, doesn't like the new look forums?

Personally, I don't.

The gaudy blue bar at the head of each section looks like something Microsoft would do.... and this is coming from the leading customisation site?

At least the previous black bars had a bit of class and were stylish, but these blue ones are plain ghastly.

There, I said it!  8C

Seems like they've made it more legible (fonts?) which I do like, but yes I could do without the blue.  Maybe they'll get extra-fancy and let us choose from a few different color layouts eventually?

customisation - customization  :typo:

customisation

"In the U.S. and Canada, it’s customizecustomizedcustomizingcustomizationcustomizable, etc. Outside North America, it’s customisecustomised, customisingcustomisationcustomisable, etc." Source http://grammarist.com/

Here I have no idea what you are talking about. I have no Blue bars. I like the Grey that surrounds where you read the replies. In the reply area it's White and the Grey and White contrast makes it easy to read the replies.

Now if you quote that quote goes in a Blue window that also makes it easier to read because what you write is in the White area of the reply.

If you click the Forums link on the home page Dave, that is where the blue shows up. I like the new forums except for the color of blue used there though.

Ok I see that. Doesn't bother me. I can read the writing inside the Blue very easy.

I'm trying to remember how very old starkers is. That gives him a reason to be a pain in the ass.

I wouldn't mind the look if it was consistent throughout the forum.

My skinner brain objects to crap that don't match. The WC header and profiled buttons don't match the flat MS/Android look other places. Not to mention that certain buttons are determined by your currently applied WB and some aren't.

I like the fonts in the my replies/recent posts very readable.

My only gripe is that it has that "modern" look that MS seems to have started. I wish it could be more like the gaming sites owned by Stardock.

Open it up in PS. Go to layer styles/bevel and emboss, outer bevel, smooth. Make the size 10, the highlights soft light and leave the shadow as is. There...that should do it.  :P

It seems there are some mixed feelings regarding the new look, but one thing that seems consistent is the blue bar not being so popular.

That's right, the main header does not match up with the section headers... looks bloody awful... was better before.

Yeah, except it ain't a 'modern look'.   Far from it.  It is flat and lacks texture, thus giving it a more primitive look. Shoot, cavemen had better imagination and graphics, and without all the lavish technology Microsoft has at its disposal.

Then Wincustomize had to go replicate that flat, boring look with MS' favourite colour.....Metro Blue. :S

For me, giving karma is a pain. When I hit the apply button, the pages scrolls all the way to the top. I hope this gets fixed.

Those of us who pay to have ad free access to this "just a forum" care. Some of us, anyway.

Oh well, I guess some people are easily pleased 😊😊   Nah, seriously, if you like it then that's fine... different strokes for different  folks, as they say.

And how boring would it be if we all liked the same things.

On that note, I'll reserve my right to continue not liking it. :-" :w00t:

Yup!  Well some of us do, at least.

IMHO, it's crap. Many of us buy Stardock software to eliminate this look on our OS. It's too much  blue, blocky, flat, boring and smells like MS. Mark me down as an unhappy camper. The only good thing about this change is that my new job and its hours keep me from being as active here at WC as I'd like to be so my exposure is limited.

PLUS.........it still doesn't use all my screen real estate. Lose those stupid, outdated waste of space blank areas on the sides already, will ya? For the entire site, not just the forums.  Who runs 1024x768 nowadays anyway?

I actually like it quite well. No complaints here.

Right on,Wiz, the Microsoft look - ala Fisher Price - is nauseating at best.  And you're right, we pay good money to Stardock to escape that horrible look, then Stardock goes and plasters it across our forums.  Okay, Wincustomize is their site, I guess, but we the users are the ones whose eyes are hurting from butt ugly MS Blue.

As for the unused space on the sides, I agree that too much screen real estate is being wasted and more could be done to make use of it.... WITHOUT filling it with ads [self-promotional or otherwise], as too many sites do.  Skins of the day, week, most popular of all time is one idea, but why not just expand the content outwards to the edges.

Oh yeah, and congrats on the job.  Hopefully it pays well enough to provide you and yours some quality of life and a decent standard of living.

You are entitled to your opinion, I guess, just don't ask me to respect your artistic views in the future, okay!  J/K. ;P :-"

I also suppose you're one of those aesthetically challenged people who liked Microsoft killing off Aero for the flat look. ;P

Nah, just kidding.  Like they say, each to his/her own.... not that I'll ever understand it [liking the 'Microsoft look', that is]

Don't wish to be controversial but, it's always the same few who complain. Maybe you just don't like change?

Right now I have more important things to whinge about :)
