Question about peripheral support

Will X be supported

I may have either overlooked this or looked in the wrong location, but I was wondering if the following items either are supported or are planned on being supported "if time allows"

:) also sorry if this should be in a different location.

Will these be supported on PC

Controllers -- IE X-Box 360/One gamepad / PS4 Gamepad when Steam supports it.

Virtual Reality Headsets -- Rift/Vive

Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D support

Augmented Reality -- Microsoft Hololense, when it's released

Yes I ask because my PC is hooked up to the living room TV and I like to kick my feet up in a recliner while playing on a controller from time to time :D

Your answer. Unless you count VR headsets showing a 2D screen as support.

Virtual Reality Headsets -- Rift/Vive [We haven't said one way or the other]

Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D support [We haven't said one way or the other]

Augmented Reality -- Microsoft Hololense, when it's released [We haven't said one way or the other]

The real answer.

To be fair, "We haven't said one way or the other" is your answer to anything (edit: new) that is asked these days that is not part of the vault content.

We haven't said one way or the other = .000000002% of this happening

:) that's why it got asked... being part of an old school gaming generation where 2 people would share a keyboard for pvp, I honestly think it'd be beyond awesome to see the match between 2 friends using AR on the kitchen table.  "Think Data & Kolrami playing Strategema for an example"

However yes, I know in reality this would be a MASSIVE investment of resources "Time/Money" with probably little/no return value to it.

AR on the kitchen table...

This is family forum, bro.  *_*

Tsk tsk tsk... well now we know who's mind is defaulted in the gutter :P

Hmm you know, I never really asked

Is 5.1/7.1/higher going to be supported -- just curious, that way if a ship is using some sort of method to cloud their presence we can figure out their general direction when they fire upon us.

Right now, even the "2 people sharing a keyboard for PVP" is a feature that is at-risk.

No worries on keyboard sharing being at risk :) I'm not a teenager in vocational school anymore so now every one of my friends owns at least a console & computer as well.

You know, when it comes to LAN parties I sure am glad I no longer have to lug a 75lb monitor to a friends house.

Ah, you misunderstand. Many of us LIKED the sharing of keyboards or the two player console games, and we are complaining about it.

It makes all the difference...

"Come over to my house and watch me play."

...vs...

"Come over to my house and play this game with me."

...vs...

"You stay in your house, and I'll stay in mine. We'll both play"

Personally I'm the fan of separate computers in the same house so I can throw wads of paper to mess with my friends... that and if we can keep our ship selections hidden from who we're playing with that'd improve match diversity.

Unfortunately I found 2 players 1 keyboard a bit too cramped & a buzzkill if someone doesn't turn off "Sticky Keys" before the match starts.  -- Not to mention for the longest of times many USB keyboards had a 6 simultaneous key limit which could be painful these days in 2p/keyboard game play.  "Imagine Utwig v Utwig w/ this limitation :("

2+ player local single console game play I agree is absolutely required.

I'd like to add my voice in hoping there is support for Nvidia 3d vision.  I know games like Anno 2205 can use it but the recommendation is not recommended.  Also, re: adding in support for these items, you got to look at if it would be FEASABLE for the player.  It's all well and good to request VR support but to be honest, how do you think VR support would be implemented if at all?  The game design would probably have to be radically changes for VR/hololens while for controllers, it doesn't need to be changed as we're talking about a game that is coming out on the xbox 1 so there's your answer.  VR is something major (and is rather expensive on the consumer side) that needs to be done in the graphics/design stage.  For a example of a game that has VR as a VERY high stretch goal, I would point you to the remake of System Shock (VR support is $3 million and if it isn't met before a certain stage in development, won't occur even if it hits 3 million).  VR also includes hololens support.

tl;dr: Contoller support is a given as it is being released on consoles.  When that support comes is anybody's guess.  Everything else is either possibly doable (3d vision) or would not work in this game (VR/hololens).

The odds are good on controller support if any game has a console version but it's not a 100% which is why I asked.

I'm looking at you Mass Effect franchise *Shakes fist*

That only works if you have laptops or have desktops in the same room. Those of us who have desktops in separate rooms are at a disadvantage, and you end up shouting. It isn't a fun experience.

Plus, there's the price gouging issue. It's a hard sell to spend $40 on an extra copy (plus all the ship DLC) just to play SuperMelee.

Given all of this. I would rather have a single local multiplayer option so that I can hook my PC to my TV, grab two controllers, and have at it with my family and friends. Couch multiplayer FTW.
