Election 2016

Election 2016

What an election season. Democrats are hardly worth the time to write about anymore, but Republicans are proving to be even worse. They have now been exposed as career politicians with absolutely no loyalty to party, only to interests, and money. Need evidence? Look no further than "war hero" John McCain. Most people that I know were so sickened by the idea of him becoming the party nominee in 2008, that they refused to vote for him, but I, as a loyal Republican, held my nose and did the deed. How am I repaid by McCain? with a news conference to announce his intention to not support the Republican nominee, Donald Trump for President. In 2008, McCain embarrassed the Republican party severely by refusing to condemn the use of the racial slur, "gook," but now he is appalled, so appalled by the vulgarity of Donald Trump. Give me a break. Senator McCain has made his intentions perfectly clear as other Republicans have. He is more comfortable with Hillary because she has promised to keep feathering his nest as he has all these years. Same goes for Paul Ryan and all the other so called conservatives who were just punching bags for Obama the last 8 years. And we wondered why. Its because they all have the same interests. So that's it. 2016 was the year that Toto pulled the curtain. Its rigged, and ordinary people are fools to fight with one another believing otherwise to the delight of those who pull the puppet strings.

Nice try, Iben but that's refering to the illegal trafficking of human smuggling.....where many drown attempting to get here...and the smugglers get paid whether they make it or not.

Australia is particularly multi-cultural....great example is that Melbourne has the world's third largest population/city of Greeks....and that includes Greece.

Currently 28% of the population was not born in Australia, which compares to 13.5% of the same for the US.

Nice try, Iben

I guess he could have dredged up the injustice dealt to the aboriginal population of Australia. I wouldn't have dragged that up, but if  I were Iben maybe I would have :D

No country has totally clean hands.  Not one.  Some have cleaner hands than others, but all are grimy to varying degree.  The 'high horse' is only high relative to the others.

Yes, I guess Iben's point was probably that it was unfair to condemn as racist a fair policy such as halting the flow of illegal immigration.

I have known four men who immigrated from the US to Australia legally.
One had a skill Australia wanted and brought a wife with him.
One married an Australian women and that is how he got in.
One was a business man with money and a family who brought in his business.
One had money and was building a house there and married an Australian women.
They told me Australia doesn't just let anybody walk in, they need a good reason to let you in.
That was my personal experience with this subject.
I think Australia has a smart immigration policy we in the US should look at.
And as a side note,
Do we in the US want Tim Kaine as president?

Unless you have skills or expertise that Australia by policy desires to import, or are lucky enough to snag an Aussie lass in marriage, forget relocating there.  Or sneaking in.

Never had any friends relocate to the outback, but know some who have gone to Europe. Its no joke trying to stay there, unlike the US. In the Netherlands, you have to learn the language and meet many requirements before you can be considered. The best way is to be classified as a businessman, or other means which are expensive and time consuming. In the US, anyone can just samba across the Rio Grande and become untouchable. We can't break up family's with cruel heartlessness! and if anyone tries to stop them they are racists and xenophobes.

Do we want someone in the white house whose judgement
allowed them to have files on a computer tangled up
with carlos danger,
and would that make us feel safe?
Maybe they would give carlos danger a new job,
he could carry the football.

Question:
How many Anthony Weiners AKA carlos dangers could be working
in the Clinton Administration if Hillary
wins the election?

If Clinton should somehow be miraculously elected it would be a national nightmare of hearings and impeachment proceedings. If Clinton had any decency at all she would step down and pass the baton to Tim Kaine, or anyone else who isn't going to be linked to her criminal rackets.

So.....

The KKK endorses Trump.

Kinda says it all, really.

Poor little dweebs must have been wetting their pants the past 8 years....;p

You thought they'd endorse Hillary?  Or Jill Stein?

Jafo, do you really believe this stuff. Its disappointing if you do because you have such a high level of intelligence. I've seen reports that some backwoods KKK guy was all excited about Clinton, but I dismissed it as irrelevant, because it is. I don't follow the KKK and could hardly care what these irrelevant people think as they are never really seen or heard from in any significant way. Its really just a campaign tactic ripped from the same Goldwater/LBJ playbook that Clinton is running. I think it was the first time that kind of demagoguery was used and the commercial still exists for historical analysis. That was the 60's. Actually, Clinton has used  the whole Goldwater strategy in its entirety, even tossing in the Daisy girl theme of a madman with his finger on the button seeing some religious vision of sending us all into the darkness. In reality, there is more evidence and more to fear from Clinton's warmongering than Trump. She keeps saber rattling with nuclear armed Russia. They have no respect for her and she has nothing but contempt for them after they made a laughing stock of her with the "reset" button. She keeps saying she wants to double down on her disastrous Syria policy and set up no fly zones against Russia, so who is more likely to start WWIII? Just something to chew on. :D

Lets say you went to college for 4 years and got a degree.
Next you get a job and work for ten years at one company,
you get raises and your boss loves your great work.
Then the company brings in an immigrant on a H-1B visa for less money than you,
you have to train them to do your job and then you are let go.
This is happening to American citizens right now probably every
time there is a down turn in the economy.
(If you are an American citizen, why get a degree, why do good work, why try for a raise?)
This happens to American workers without a degree also,
only the replacement walked in across the border.
I should know I've been there more than once.

Sadly, being 8000 miles away from the US and we still have to endure the bullshit that is the US Presidential Elections....and what makes it over here as 'news' means the rest of the World outside of the US is only going to Laugh if/when Trump is elected.  For many it will just reinforce established opinions regarding just how parochial and insular the US really is.

Possibly a more self-conscious entity might fantasize that prohibiting such factions as the KKK might actually be seen as a 'good thing'.

Instead other countries [Oz included] are getting all Fascist/Nationalist in the name of 'Pride'.

Sure...you ONLY have 13.5% of population not born in the US so it's probably meaningless to you.....but places like Oz with 28% of the population actual Immigrants [not born here] maybe we're a little more aware [mostly] that creatures in white pointy hats are as bad as any home-grown extremist/terrorist with their innate anti-social behavior.

I know it's a fact no-one in the US ever liked Obama...and refused to admit they'd ever voted for him [if they did] but to the entire rest of the world he's been seen as better than just about any President since Kennedy.

It wasn't just 'Black America' who may have felt some form of 'relevance' finally, but the World didn't feel like 'that super-power' was just the Yang to the USSR's Ying.

So....the News outside of the US has lines like..."KKK endorses Trump" and "Putin endorses Trump" at which stage we say "Fuck Trump".

So....Clinton is a putz with emails....whoopee-do.

If I were voting I'd vote for the lesser of 2 idiots.

Well, the media in the US has for the most part been totally exposed (mostly by Wikileaks) as being so in the tank for Hillary that Soviet Pravda would be proud. So I wouldn't be surprised if the same outlets were down there in Australia. In fact, Murdoch actually comes from there, and even FOX and all its affiliates have been virulently opposed to Trump throughout. So those who control the message have a way of controlling the people. The Klan are marginal at best and couldn't really be considered as anything representing a problem that Americans are talking about at their kitchen tables, so why is such a problem that doesn't even really exist being thrust to the forefront? If you are really concerned about "people in pointy hats" then look up Clinton's love for the late Sen. Robert Byrd, whom she calls a "mentor". Byrd wasn't just a Klan member, he was a ranking officer, which makes it a lot more than a youthful mistake. So Clinton has been a big fan of his throughout the years and no one really seemed to ask why.  All this media coverage of Trump is much like what we've seen in the past. Take Schwarzenegger for example... he was a beloved action movie hero, until he wanted to run against Democrats in California of course. Overnight he was transformed into a serial groper and borderline rapist who acted inappropriately on rowdy movie sets. We have seen this shit before. Trump was highly respected and has never been in trouble with the law, now suddenly overnight he is a rapist and a desperate molester of porn stars when he could buy and sell such people at anytime of the day or night and have them do anything he wants. Its really just a smear campaign. Not a single one of those people ever filed a police report? Clinton isn't just a putz with email, she is in deep trouble. The most egregious thing she did in my opinion besides selling out our country was to abandon the men under attack in Benghazi and then lie about it to the public with a fantastic fairy tale about an obscure YouTube video. She is a disgrace and should be brought before justice. As for Obama... what can I say. He has one "achievement" called the Affordable Care Act which is now being called "unaffordable" and "the craziest system" by prominent people in his own party. That is a success to you then so be it.

Another thing, its not just the media, and its not surprising people may think these things when Obama and Clinton are out yesterday calling Trump and his supporters KKK members. One wonders what political dialogue could be held under such circumstances. There really should be a law against such political arson that prohibits a campaign from trying to foment violence and civil unrest. It is a sham and it is dangerous. You won't find one kitchen table in America where a couple are discussing the dangers of the KKK. Its unfortunate that one even has to debate such a thing as its absurdity should be self evident.

Wasn't it trump who said he could shoot someone in New York City and not lose any votes.....some-such infantile tripe.

I really don't care directly who ends up as Pres...provided they cease and desist fucking people outside their borders.  There's enough 'citizens' to oppress without going off-site....;)

God knows whose fault it was [probably the electoral system] that sees the only 2 options a dick-head and a fuck-wit.  Either way the US pop is screwed.

It's living proof the Pres election system needs to be dragged screaming into a generation your grandparents might remember.

What you currently have patently fails.

In 300 million people even the law of averages means you must be able to find at least one or two people who have a brain, so how the hell did you end up with the junk you got now?...;)

We're screwed, alright.  We might survive the one; doubtful we survive the other.  As a country our 'grandparents might remember,' anyway.

I actually like our compulsory voting requirement....you're fined if you fail to cast a vote.

The 'right' to vote is enforced.

That'd be a start.  And what is it that in 7 or so states it's actually legal to vote more than once?  How the hell does that work?

Or rather...how the hell isn't that a recipe for abuse?

Hillary Clinton doesn't really care in the slightest
about your problems, she has to many of her own problems.
Do you want to tarnish US history electing Hillary Clinton
as the first woman president?
You would be better off with Elizabeth Warren, at least she's real.

Yes, it's kind of a NY attitude thing which is something he better hold off on should he be elected. Having been born and raised in NY, its a sarcasm that I understand, but people in other parts of the country may not :D Its pretty simple for me... Trump Vs. Hillary Clinton. Of the 2, I find Trump far more in line with my beliefs and I don't fi9nd him completely revolting and unfit as I do Clinton. So its a no brainer for me when presented with the choice. I could borrow the brain of a mentally handicapped man and still arrive at the same decision :D  So we either get Clinton, who will be mired in scandal and impeached with no hope of any future, or we can have the possible hope for a decent Government by giving Trump a chance. I know after a few weeks you will come around and start lovin the guy, Jafo :D

Lets say that you don't like either one of the candidates.
Then you could default to policies.
One of those would be safety of US inner government data,
which Hillary has proven she can't keep safe.
This could pose a threat to the safety of anyone in the world
and is one down side of the new digital universe.
