Battle formations and units behavior

Good day.

I've made this quick review of the terrible situation with units behavior and battle formations.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqaywIzC2Mo

To summarize. About the formations we need:

1. Battle formations modes (rectangular, line, circle etc etc with different setups)
2. Formation facing - we all know what it is.
3. Shrink and stretch of the formation - VERY IMPORTANT. I need to be able to control the formation in every way, including the number of the rows, the lenght of the lines and the gap between them.

About the general units behavior, we need:
1. Units must respond to commands rapidly and very specific. They must take EXACT positions as i've pointed, and not in 10 meters at the left.
2. Units must react quick, if i say RETREAT! that means it must retreat at full speed and not lag for a minute until it dies. If i say attack - it must rush in to break enemies lines and NOT LAG FOR a minute until it is dead again.
3. Units must keep their formation until i say to break it. They must not leave their positions, unless i command them to.
4. Units must not dance back and forth each time when they are moving around in the formation. This is incredibly stupid behavior.
5. Units must learn how to keep their grown, how to defend a specified point, how to follow etc etc.
6. Units must know how to concentrate fire.

Story tells that the units are controlled by the AI. Right now the AI is pretty dumb.
I don't mean nothing, but please see how the reality looks like.

So you'd understand. We play games, to have fun. I want the victory to depend on my actions and not on the random glitches of stupid AI.
Right now most of the time you just sit and watch as your units go attack, completely powerless with no control.
I need to have precise and total control of everything that is going on the screen.
Add a precise control system, including the wide battle formation options, and the game will flourish.

Yeah, I see a lot of players not using formations because of AI issues. I lost a match once because of it. It can be frustrating.

Agreed, but does anyone else see that an army is less effective than unorganized bunch of units? Can anyone clear things up on when you actually want an army (joined units via meta unit) and when you want to just pick up some units in a command group and let them do their work?

what do you mean by clear things up ?  When units in meta group they get buffs when they arnt they dont get buffs.  Since unit behavior is bugged currently in meta players are usually using there groups out of meta in game because although they get no buffs, units move faster and dont go wondering off and get attacked one by one by the enemy and air units dont just sit there flying in circles until they die.  Or you can try getting them to where you want and when battle starts add them all to meta.

also most like to micro manage artillery units so just leave your units out of meta till a big fight starts.

Yeah, thats what i mean. From my experience meta units are kinda clumsy atm. Thanks for clearing thing up a bit.

So what kind of buffs are they getting? Significant ones or minor ones?

I thought you cant organise air units in meta unit. Am i wrong?

Thanks in advance.

You are correct bout air units but you can press f3 which selects all air units and time them to attack about the same time as your units arrive.  in a fight keep using f3 to select them becuase you won't be able to click them in the messy fight.

Unit picture is on the left showing the main meta unit leader of the group.  Usually the strongest unit.  In his picture you will see little weapon icons, this increases as you add certain units to the meta group.  Basically you'll want a nice mix if your using a dread naught for buffs.  It's not really something I give much thought to in game.  Just spam artillery haha

umm warched the guys video ie Op and yeah it's pretty bad the ai when you see the video he really gave agood example of the current stat of meta unit movement.  As he says the game has been out a year.   I would have to agree with his post 100%
