SOLVED: Windows 10 Anniversay update killed my wife's PC

It gets as far as the login screen and never boots to the desktop.  I tried to use a recovery disk to restore the PC and every restore point has been deleted and it fails the read the DVD!  If I restore back to Windows 8.1 will I lose the W10 update or will MS recognize this PC was eligible for the free upgrade?

HELP!!!!!

I was able to get to the desktop by using ctrl-alt-del at the login screen.  Then I disabled all Stardock software plus Norton.  The computer booted fine after that.  I started turning programs back on one at a time until the problem reappeared and it seems to be WindowBlinds.  I'm running  which I believe is the latest.  I'll try the beta and see if that works.

The beta version fixed the problem.

I've tried to install the Windows10 Anniversary update twice this week, but both times it crashed right after I logged on.  I learned from a Microsoft forum that this issue was likely being caused by Windowblinds10.  My question is:  I believe this issue has been reported here before; is there  a Windowblinds10 update that corrects the problem released, or is one under construction?  Thanks.

You should uninstall all Stardock software before attempting an update, and reboot. Then try to update, and then reinstall your Stardock software (latest versions).
