Need help GalCiv2 Dread Lords

I've tried adding the 1.1 patch to my Galactic Civilization 2: Dread Lords, but when i launch the shortcut and then click play game, it immediately says "Activate.exe has stopped working" and crashes. I tried reinstalling the entire game and it didnt change the outcome. It's very frustrating and i would very much like this patch because of the things it includes (and adds that are missing from the original retail copy)

1.1 is actually very out of date; we stopped supporting standalone patches after that. If you registered the game, you can just download the entire latest version (1.53) from our store page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

Well if you're a legitimate owner of any version DL you can just register your game like Kryo proposed and then go to tje link and DL the latest final version - and believe me that version is so much better than 1.0 or 1.1 (I still have 1.0 on a Cd from Paradox and it feels rather incomplete and less balanced) so definitely give it a try!
