How we've affected development

How we've affected development

In a different thread, Frogboy stated that we in the founder's program Changed the course of development for the game by convincing them that no one wants to see the Spathi ret conned out of the game entirely, hence the concept of The Multiverse (tm).

What I want to know is - I think it would be extremely rewarding for us on the Founder's Program, to understand any other effects on development we've brought about! Help us take some ownership and pride in what's going on behind the scenes. That would be so cool to hear!

Frogboy? Vaelzad? Any info you can give us to let us know, "Well we WERE going to make the game only-3D, but y'all convinced us to keep it top-down!" or something similar!

Yeah, we are not going to allow anyone to switch. Part of what you got for the Full Founder's edition was being the first to the party to see things. Also, some things we have released to you may not be accessible in the future without it. The Full Founder's is a great deal, we plan on doing a lot of expansion stuff for the game.

Agreed! never regretted going into the full thing one bit! just didn't know about the discount founders (but even if i did, i would get the full founders anyway so why even talk about it XD)

I certainly wasn't asking to switch - I'm all-in on the new Star Control and have been waiting 25 years for this game! The chance to be a part of it?! It's once in a lifetime.

When I was worried about money and whatnot, and making the investment (which is quite expensive for a video game), I just would have liked to at least KNOW there was an option that wouldn't break my bank so much. That's all!

Lol, thread derailed :P

Anything anyone might share that we've directly shaped the course of development? Get back on track?

Quoting Vaelzad,

To give you an idea, out of all the founders around 5% have contributed with posts to the forum discussion.

Lame!! How do we get more people to be active on here? Why become a founder if you're not going to have input!!

Well first we have to know that there is a forum in which to contribute. Until today the only news I had received about the Star Control reboot was the fact that "Star Control Lifetime Founders Edition" appeared in my Account > Downloads > Games list. Not one single email or bit of news has ever shown up, I only went looking for information after I stumbled across my payment record while sorting through junk on my hard drive.

You should have received an email when you bought your founder's edition that had the links to the vault and forums. You may want to check your spam filter to see if it is sending Stardock emails to it.

I'm still here.  Proudly part of the 5%!  Just waiting for more interactive bits...

I am very glad to be a founder, especially on this game. However, it seems like being a founder has been pretty passive so far.  I had a ton of ideas racing through my head for aliens, ships, systems, UI, and more, but basically everything I've seen so far has already been worked on for weeks or months by SD, so I'm not really sure what my role is here.

I can't be the only one either.

Still, happy to be a part of something so fun as helping to make Star Control the best it can be!!!

P.S. also hope I get to name a star system, but a planet is cool too.  Dibs on the Moon!

It depends on how you define passive and non-passive. We aren't going to ask the founders to write code or make textures. :) We do however want any and all your feedback on the things we do share. Also feel free to share the ideas you have, and be sure to check out the vault as there are tons of screenshots there that you can draw over or use for reference.

Hey, I've got a good one for you... Put a guy selling Taco's from a cart somewhere in the game.  Reminiscent of the Taco Cart Guy in that episode of Hercules,  Haha!!!

July update asked for input on the teaser and first 15 minutes of gameplay!  Thank you for asking for more than just "feedback" though I love doing that too!

You've just made this more active!
