Reusing Character Set Pictures?

So currently right now in vanilla Sins of Solar Empire: Rebellion once a player is using one of the eight character set pictures, none of the next seven players can use that same set.

Is there anyways to allow players to resuse the same character sets without having to saturate the number of players?

What I mean by this is if you have nine players in a match and all the previous eight character sets have been used, the ninth player slot can reuse one of the already used character sets. But then again the game limits you so that you cannot use that same character set again until the next seven characters have also been used.

If you're talking about the player portraits, I think human players can have the same portrait set just fine. It's just the game doesn't like to reuse the same pictures for the AI.

Yeah I am asking about the AI player portraits.

It just doesn't even let you use the same set at all even if you're playing a different faction. Like I chose the 5th (column in player_portrait_large.dds) picture set and I am playing as the TEC, but it won't even allow me to set the AI as the Advent or Visari picture of that picture set. Which is super annoying.

Is there anyways for me to change this behavior without me having to just edit the picture files and duplicating the portraits and editing the "rowItemCount 8" value in the files below?

Not that I know of, sorry. I think there are lines to assign a particular AI player to a particular portrait in the map files, however I'm not sure if this actually works.

There certainly isn't a global toggle for it.

nope, its locked

if you choose the 1st set, all the portraits are locked to the 1st in the row

if you choose the 2nd set, all the portraits are locked to the 2nd in the row

etc

Pretty sure the player pics for NPCs were from the early sins beta that was never realized. The only npc picture used is the pirates.

 

Areolian Sector Map Player section uses all tech as mentioned by Goa

the values where 0 should be able to go 0 thru 9 for a total of 10, but that means editing every map you play even if it works.
