Substrate Overcharge

Overcharge abuse with cheap metal assemblies

This is a post for all the noob substrate players that have complained about PHC refinery. You have no excuse for not matching your economy vs phc in teamgames:
  • Overcharge - Temporarily boost a single Power Generator or Amplifier's output with a short-lived unstable

Sohow this thing works? From my games vs danail and other top substrate players, I have seen they don;t even bother to play the avatar. if they make these, they use them to cap and construct things in midgame. What need is for an avatar if you could build free assemblies that cost 0 rads and can produce mini dreads, 5 to 10min from the start, cap with reapers and martyrs, overcharge and profit. the momentum gained from this move is gamebreaking.

They usually have one big attack and if they lose that attack they overcharge and by the time you reach their base you are outnumbered heavily. That is v nice.

What bothers me more is that even without overcharge, their units are so cheap, they can still mass produce and maybe switch to dreads/overcharge and give storage upgrades with quanta.

Overcharge provides substrate A move win the game at 8-10 mark.

I think the overcharge ability deserves a thread of its own, if the devs do not acknowledge how broken this ability is!! I am starting to be glad when ppl cheese me with avatar and drone swarm, at least I know I don;t have 20 cruiser up my ass in the first 10 minutes of the game and I can actually plan with EMP.

Solution. Add some refinery from sub, remove global from the game and work on that assembly to actually require rads for cruiser and air production. Free feedback!

Dear Neinhalt,

i m trying to be gentle. please play some mp game substrate. you played about ZERO substrate games in MM and call a lot of substrate players noobs. It seems you are a nice guy. Its really easy to play against a substrate like Danial lose und after that... I played against Danial and this is imba because i SAW that... that not a argument. You never played it....

PHC needs 4 rads to keep 3 armories going. Why should sub be more special? Why would sub be allowed to invest the extra rad that they save from the assemblies that cost only metal, in avengers? Where is the balance in that?

Where is the ballance in having mass assemblies fueled by quanta?

It feels like one race is confined at 1-2 tier 2 factory while the other race is very fluid and can redirect resources in all of its production to other expensive units. on the go, with lower resource drain.

Let's say you have 8 assemblies, you keep 4 with cruiser, 1, air and the rest tier 1, if at some point you expand and have a larger income, you just distribute the resource inflow to better  units on the go. Further more if you want you can overcharge and overpower the enemy with quanta if case you screw up and lose your army. Or better overcharge and make a dread. Mayne YoepNL will shed a light on this, I always see him sporting a dread below 10 min mark.

Try to build a dread with phc before 10 minm and your whole economy will be crippled. That is not the case for substrate.

It's too much of a forgiving design for substrate and allows more space for error.
