Gameplay Inspirations: The Long Journey Home

I came across this title recently, although it's probably been in known development for some time. I was immediately struck with its similarity to Star Control and I thought the community here would be very interested. Anybody else familiar with it?

It's hard to say how this title could inspire Star Control as it is also some way off from being released. It clearly has a more dramatic tone and I'm sure it won't be a direct analog to Star Control, but it seems like it shares many similar themes. Games like this are few and far between.

I'm definitely keeping this on my radar; I think Stardock should be paying attention to titles like this to see what kind of contemporary elements are being incorporated into the very sparse landscape that is the space adventure genre. I really love some of the visuals in this trailer.

I did not find it exciting, it lacks life, like when dune 2 was remade into 3d when all the graphics looked like carton boxes, no life in the colours either.

And very much lack of detail.

i know stardock will get it right, they have a team passionate about Star Control, and understands what makes it so unique and exciting.

Yep, I've seen that title, it's interesting to see the choices they made.

just re-watched the video, maybe i was a little hard on the critique, it doesn't look that bad but can definately be bettered, i liked at 58 seconds and 121 not bad the planets look realistic but they need more detail, more colour and immersion, and i would like to see the clouds,storms move on the planets from space, that would be awesome.

The major plot lines are right there in that teaser. How insane is that ?.. "Mind BLOWN!" - Sean Murray  :rofl:
