1.8 Hot patch (Updated 6/22)

We found some bugs that need squashing before our next major release.  Thanks to our community for help us tracking them down!  

Please note that you may need to restart steam to get the latest changes.  

Change log

  • Fixed a problem with interceptors that prevented battles from completing and causing a stuck turn.
  • Address an issue where a specific set of galaxy options that would produce an early game stuck turn 
  • The map editor's mini-map is no longer missing.
  • Fixed a case that allowed machines to select unsupported graphic options resulting in either black screen or a crash.
  • [hot patch #2] Fixed another stuck problem related to battles

I know it's a bad idea to load an older save into an updated version of GalCiv3, but I just had to test the save that was just before the repeated freezes I reported here to see if this update made a difference.  When I clicked the Turn button, GalCiv3 went right past the point where it froze all the other times.

Good job fixing this irritating bug. :thumbsup:

The Hot fix patch has rendered the game totally unplayable. I haven't had a problem with lock-up until the patch will retain saves if you need them for ticket.

I had no problems whatsoever before this hot patch.  Got the patch and started a new game this afternoon.  I play for a bit and then the game hangs waiting for the next turn to start.  This evening I reloaded and played for a bit and it hung again.  I'm manually moving ships each turn.  Support ticket has been submitted.

Edit - I just finished verifying files and it downloaded and replaced GC3.bin.  I'll reload and try again.

Edit 2 - No luck.  I got 3 or 4 turns further and it hung again.

Me too, I am no more able to play more then 10 turns before the game hang during AI turns...

I was having the same trouble as the last few folks after the hotfix (stuck turn 1>2 "starting new turn" before it).  Then and now (just made it to 30 no trouble), setting pirates to none seems to sidestep the worst of it.  I normally play with them abundant though so the change is :( but it seems to work for now

Unfortunately the hotfix broke my game, I was able to continue playing after 1.8 by doing everything manually but since the hotfix the game now hangs during the AI turns and nothing i can do there.

Not sure if I have the hotfix or not, but assuming the beta opt-in should bring it down I was freezing before and after.  No mods.  I'm about to uninstall and move on to something else.

I forgot to mention that I was also seeing a weird effect on a regular basis in 1.8 from the get-go where stacking ships into a fleet via movement caused the stack to be shifted between hexes. Basically it would be sitting almost into an adjacent hex, but you still controlled the fleet by clicking on the mostly empty hex.  No change after updating video drivers.

The game completely broke for me too after this hotfix. I cannot play at all. The game crashes between turns, just when it says that a new turn is about to start. Please fix this ASAP.

We just updated the patch that address the stuck turn.

Should be, since the update seem to be only binary files, no xml updates.
