wrong version

Installed 10.0.5 yesterday but it still says 10.014. Turned off my anti-virus also.

A few questions... sureshot106, where did you find 10.0.5, as the only version in the store is the latest.

Did you uninstall and reboot before installing your 10.0.5?

Why did you want 10.0.5 instead of the latest version?

Ditto for me on Win 7. Complete uninstall of WB once yesterday, twice today, ran CCleaner, rebooted each time, Installed with AV off (This ain't my first rodeo) version did not change to 10.0.5 which IS the latest version available in My Downloads.

Doc. What version do you have?

what is the correct version?

Mine is 10.0.5 which is the latest available for W10

On my W7 machine, I have the same installed.

The "correct" (updated) version is 10.0.5 which works on W7 as well.

Unless there's some specific problem (which should be reported to Support), using the most updated version is best, as it addresses driver changes/Windows changes/user problems reported and fixed.

Doc, you are contradicting yourself.  The version probably gets installed but it shows the wrong number in About.

Not really, being a person, sometimes I misword a sentence...this time, because I edited the sentence a few times, and I was cooking, too. I reordered the sentence but not the versions.

I'm certain there are about 1,000 more instances (at least).

Hmmm....now I'll have to sacrifice a small animal, I suppose....  :|

Perhaps...or another reason.

The most helpful thing sureshot106 might do is to post all the file info in "About"...that way we'd be able to reduce the conjecture.

I can do that too.

Is the (014 - Windows 7 Edition) in fact the version number, or something else? Why is the actual version number not shown in the About information?

It's something else, Tom, as far as I know.

I was hoping sureshot106 would post his "About"...which is what people actually should be doing in posts about Windowblinds if memory serves...

I did post it.

sureshot106, I didn't see your info because of the refresh rate.

The version you have is the most recent. Where do you see that you have "but it still says 10.014" written?

Can you give us a screen shot (don't include any key numbers, ok?).

when you hover the windowblinds icon in the system tray.

Which is what mine shows, as well. A few years ago there was a discussion about this version thing (Lightstar alluded to it in his question).

The main take away is that you're up to date, and what you see in the mouse over and in the "About", are correct...and so is the official 10.0.5 version number thing...I think the difference came about because of trial versions being downloaded from various sites, then authorized, and tracking of the various sites and efficacy in advertising...but I'm not 100% sure of that.
