Nice I have a new game twice a month.

Very nice  :dur:

I have a question about the CPU Cores: do we benefit from more than 8 for example 32?

Looking forward to it!

The game supports up to 16 cores and on recent benchmarks the game ran faster on the 10 core Broadwell-E then any of the other 8 or 6 core machines. (So the scaling really works, and more cores > faster clocked cores)

As for extra cores helping with these new graphics, no idea I'm afraid :) But why not?

I asked the question because I saw a extremly cheap Xenon e5-2670 for ~60€ or 70USD and some motherboards support two cpus

Quite a  while back on the Steam forums there was a guy with a 32 core ex-server system, two CPUs of 16 cores each. He showed the CPU workload spread across the CPUs, the first was fully utilized and the 2nd was not used. I think he wanted to know if the game was meant to/could use the second CPU. A Dev answered him saying the game was scaling as expected and was designed to use up to 16 cores so it would not use the 2nd core. I couldn't find the post though so I don't know if he said whether the game would have been able to use the 2nd CPU if each CPU only had 8 cores.

That is a recent write up of the Xeon you are looking at, the link is the game benchmark page if you are curious about performance with other games. Obviously most games only use 4 threads and the CPU is a little older so a decent i5 will beat it for gaming currently. Obviously 8+ cores is great for other things though.

The Nitrous engine will use every CPU core it can get its hands on.  It has no concept of CPU cores, just very small jobs that are sent out to all your CPU cores.

This is why we're so excited about Ashes, Star Control and future projects built on it.  It'll be years before anyone else has this kind of tech.

how about the double size map, 4V4 or 5V5?  we waited a long time, sir

FWIW I ran the benchmark a few months back to show the core/thread usage in DX12 on my dual socket 12C/24T system. (Dual X5690s)

As you can see the game definitely uses both CPUs and at least on my setup appears to be using about 18 of my 24 available threads during the benchmark.

12 Cores? I guess you can be the host when we get the Huge maps :)

The game has been out about 8 weeks.  :)
