Roll-up fences underneath other windows

Roll-up fences underneath other windows

So I upgraded to the new fences. And I liked the idea of having the roll-ups along the edge of my main screen, and just moving the mouse over them when I need to access the apps / date / folders. But when I do this, they unroll underneath the existing windows. What use is that? Is there an 'always on top' setting that I'm missing?

I'm not running any other customising software, just plain Windows 10.

Seems one way to solve the "always on top" is to give the ability to hide all open windows - similar to Win-D.   Win-D works fine UNTIL you open another window.  Then it loses all the open windows that it closed.

As it is now.  Win-D puts all windows onto the task bar.   Hit Win-D again and they all pop back up where they were.   GREAT.

NOW, lets use that with Fences.   Win-D hides all the windows, go to a fence and it expands, select what you want to open.   So far, so good!!!

ok, now I want that window I JUST OPENED to be on top of all the previously closed window.   I hit Win-D again to restore all the windows and, WHAT???, NOTHING pops back up.  When I opened that selection from Fences Windows "forgot" about all the other windows that had previously been open.

If something similar could be written into Fences such that a key sequence would run a Stardock command to hide all the windows then hit that same sequence again to restore them, with the added bonus of anything activated in a Fence would remain on the TOP of the restored windows would be very much worthwhile.   It may be a little bit more to do than if the Fence would stay on top, but, I wouldn't have to manually move all my windows out of the way!!!

Thoughts????

Object Desktop would be a great alternative except for two major flaws there.

1. If you get more than a couple of tabs with several icons on each tab it starts to really bog down and has major response time issues.

2. In Windows 10 Object Dock is not supported.  At all.  And no response if it is going to be.  The future of Object Dock is questionable at best.

I am not big on all the other products.  Object and Fences as an alternative are the only worthwhile products that StarDock has in my book unless you are just playing with your system.

And it has been over a year since this string was started and still only excuses.  Can anyone tell me the name of the free dock mentioned above or where to find it?

Neil essentially said it all.  Fences is a coralling system for Icons which are part of the Desktop and by Microsoft's design are intended to stay at that level [Z-Order].

Windows are designed/intended to essay services be above the desktop and/or above each other as when focus is changed [again Z-order].

Fences is not designed [nor can it be] to alter the layering of Microsoft's GUI.  Other Launchers are designed for that, and in Stardock's case specifically  ObjectDock which can and does pop-over both the Desktop AND open Windows.

It is safe to say that Fences will never have an option to alter the z-order of the Microsoft GUI [though as soon as you say that anything can happen].

Confidence. N. That feeling you have immediately before you fully understand the situation...;)

PS....would I like it as an option?   Yes...;)

I am not thrilled with Windows 10 and to be honest I am afraid of the time when Microsoft decedes to move to the next version. Fences is one of the apps that makes Windows desktope bearable. Don't know why Microsoft has been so lame lately (and I meab performance too).
