Suggestion: Allow a 15 minute trial period on Master skins

Simply a quick trial period to "kick the tires" and make sure everything works properly

I realize that the skins don't cost much, but so far, on some of the free Win 10 compatible skins, I've encountered a consistent issue.

I use Excel 2016. A lot. Every day in fact for 8 hours straight.

Some of the skins change the color of the grid to something other than white. Often the new color is so dark that it makes using Excel anywhere from visually uncomfortable to near impossible.

To my knowledge, there is no way to change the color back to white while using a Windows blind skin.

I've also tried to exclude excel.exe from being skinned, but that doesn't fix the issue. (Within the "per applications" setting)

So, all I'm asking for is a quick opportunity to try it out.

There is only one real resolve to this issue unfortunately, and that is to only use a white or extremely light colored explorer background in Windows 10, there is no way else. As far allowing trial periods on a skin, I don't think that is even possible, and if it were, it would no doubt cost Stardock a lot of money to develop encoding procedures. Then they would have to deal with hackers too.

This is why my Windows 10 releases have a white sub-style with them, and all skin designers need to start doing this if they are developing Windowblinds skins for Windows 10.

I am afraid that is not a viable option to allow trials.  A great deal of dev work and it would end up being cracked plus no doubt many complaints about not being able to edit themes anymore.

However if you have issues with Excel 2016 you should be able to change the Window background colour from within the WB UI.  On the Change System Colours option.

If you don't want to do as Neil says and want it to be permanent  for that WB use SKS.

I also use Excel, Word and even  Microsoft email. The color that controls those backgrounds is the "Windows Background" color in SKS.

Change skin colors/Edit colors/show me the skin defined system colors/ Window background. Just change the color of the window background, apply and good to go.Note it may be necessary to close excel and open again to see changes.

Because I do use those programs I set the colors so they can be used. But do the above and very easy.

Thanks everyone for your quick replies!

Neil, I tried the change system colors option, but that didn't seem to fix the issue.

Dave what is SKS?

SKS. Skin Studio. Comes with Windowblinds. Not hard to use for minor changes but you not knowing what it is may not be easy for you.

Glad you got it. Good job.

you could also make an exclusion for excel in the windowblinds options so you can have the style and avoid the color changes, since excel doesn't skin anyways.

Lol, Goin down that road you'll soon be making exclusions for all sorts of various apps & software until eternity ^_^
