Hotkey to select all units of same type?

I'm finding that it's sometimes difficult to select all air units of the same type to assign them to a control group since they move around so much. When I draw a box around them with land units beneath them, I also get the land units in the group, which I do not want most of the time.

 

Supreme Commander had hotkeys to select all units of the same type (CTRL+A selected all air units, CTRL+L selected all land units... can't remember sea units but it was probably CTRL+S). 

 

Would you consider implementing these functions within AoS?

Hot key would be a great idea, aircraft are tricky to select!

Dude, there already is one, pretty sure it's double click. :)

 

I found it almost immediately, but the brain is fuzzy, oh so fuzzy...

Yeah, thanks, I'm well aware of double click. It's difficult to double click the air units while they're flying around in circles. A hotkey would be much more efficient.

In Command & Conquer there are two hotkeys that I miss a lot on Ashes: one which selects absolutely every military unit you've got across the map. The other selects every unit on SCREEN of the same type of ones you currently selected. That is better than double clicking because not only it's easier, but it opens to possibilitys like selecting some brutes and arches and then pressing the hotkey to select both the brutes and archers around the screen. That's not possible with double cliking. Additionaly, when you press that same hotkey again having selected already every unit of that kind on screen, it proceeds to select every unit of those kinds on the map. The game also displays a message on the bottom of the UI telling you "Selected every unit on screen" or "Selected every unit on map" so you know for sure you didn't select more than intended.

I seem to remember Total Annihilation had something like CTRL+Z to select all of a specific unit type...
