WB10 doesn't work for me so...

The main program that I use for graphics, Paint Shop Pro 7, doesn't skin with SKS10.

I initiated a restore point to take off WB10/SKS10 however now there are no graphics in SKS10 as well as stuck on version 7.3. These were purchased with OD which has expired.

I have both 7.4 versions of SKS but they will not take when attempting to install?

For me, I either need the older program code inserted back into WB10/SKS10 or,

Stand alone legacy copies of WB7/SKS7.

Attempting to remove these takes me to the gamestop website as they were installed with impulse.

What a frigging mess, is there any help out there???

I have requested a ticket from support but nothing there yet.

Support may be able to help.... but not-withstanding the fact I am still using PSP6, PSP7 is definitely a 'legacy program' which is unlikely to be supported by modern programs.

My PSP6 dates to 1999 [copyright] so it's 17 years old going on 18.  7 won't be all that much younger...;)

Will PSP9 work?

mine is circa 2000, I'd be happy with WB7/SKS7 usable but putting in the older code to 10 would be outstanding seeing as I already paid for it.

I have psp10 installed but don't use it for anything other than being able to get thumbnails of the *.psp files.

So what we have here is the typical non-response. You'd think that someone would either say;

1. You're a valued supporter and contributor, I'll look into it and see what we can do.

2. You're a valued supporter and contributor and we can provide legacy copies of SKS7/WB7.

3. Even though you're a valued supporter and contributor go suck an egg and live with your favorite program not skinning.

Support still has not issued a ticket.

I have a few blind that are complete but not uploaded. I'm uploading one today hope it's not borked.

Quoting Neil,

PaintShop Pro 7 is not a theme aware app and this can be seen by switching back to the OS default skin.

Support for skinning applications that pre date Windows XP (when theme support was introduced) was removed a long time ago in WB.  Certainly WB8 did not skin them and I thought it was removed in WB7 too but perhaps not.

I am afraid this is will not be changed as those applications are so rare now that the cost of including support exceeds the benefit by a significant amount.  Removing that improved the product for all the other modern apps.

Also, it looks like Support responded and resolved the problem, is that not the case?

I did a restore point which I thought did the trick and responded to support that it was okay to close the ticket. Unfortunately it didn't do the trick and the restored SKS7 is kind of borked, no graphics. I requested support on the 30th for the new issues.

WB7/SKS7 still allowed the skinning for psp7.

PSP 3.12 was the best PSP ever! ( and then PSP 6) The 32 bit edition does allow me to scan images at the highest res my scanner supports without crashing and then saving. On opening it crashes if too large but it saves at least. No other newer application could do that amazing job.Even not Photoshop.

Do use nowadays a PSP 6 with XP ( network turned off) in a virtualbox. Fastest linux scanning solution that works. On windows 7 64 bit i uses PSP 3.12, gimp and Paintdotnet and scantailor. On linux mypaint gimp and others.

PSP 6 is still used and i wish to see an update. Its not nice to see that its unsupported. i am now following this thread a bit now as well as the ones with start panel issues.

Bets alternative to PSP 6 is Photoline. Older versions ( from 2012 or so)  have even an PSP6 like layout

How does skin gimp in win10 b.t.w. .?

think I should attempt to reinstall sks7 without removing what I am showing. I do have the file, just unsure if that might work.

I guess I could also go and clear sks from the registry first?

I asked someone so this is hear say but doesn't the current version of SKS contain the graphic templates for XP.

SKS7 wasn't broken so why break it, bizarre.

clicking on the program didn't get the expected, I was asked if I wanted to remove SKS and all of its components.

WTF, c'mon folks how about a little assistance.

To recap:

  • SKS8 and SKS10 dropped support for older programs so it could support newer programs
  • You have a ten year old graphics program that you want to use
  • You have a version of SKS7 (released seven years ago) that is not working

Yes?

If so, I don't think that we'll be able to help you.

If you think that your copy of SKS7 is corrupted, Stardock Support may be able to provide you a copy.  Maybe.

That's really all that I want. I purchased a copy of WB10 that I'm not going to use. Is it possible to donate that to someone that is without? I'll give support another shot, thanks.

I really think you should try to get this sorted so you can join me in skinning for Windows 10 Greg.
