CTD / Cause for Multi-GPU crashes / windows pagefile requirements

Hallo AotS Team

Maybe I found some interesting facts that cause CTD when using DX12 and a MGPU-Setup. If someone (like me) disabled the pagefile or setup a small one, the DX12 benchmark / game crashes to desktop. After enabling the pagefile and set it to "system managed" all runes smooth without any crashes.

This behavior is reproducible, when disabling the pagefile => CTD happens again.

I created 4 screenshots (DX11 run, DX12 run, DX12 run with 2xGPU, System without Load), every time I started the benchmark with: High Preset, 1080p
DX11: http://i.imgur.com/q3AQiDg.jpg
DX12: http://i.imgur.com/9yzBzw7.jpg
DX12+MGPU: http://i.imgur.com/aK8zqiA.jpg
No-Load: http://i.imgur.com/PoBNS97.jpg

When running a 2xGPU setup with DX12, the required / allocated pagefile is about 20GB and RAM usage is about 10GB.

My Suggestion: When AotS start, add a check that the required amount of ram / pagefile is available.

My System:
- Clean Win10 64Bit
- AMD Crimson 16.3.1
- [email protected]
- 16GB DDR4
- 2x390X 8GB

Skeeby disable SLI and try again in dx12.

If that doesn't work delete your settings .ini file under documents/my games/ Ashes. You'll have to redo your settings again, but sometimes I've noticed (when I tried mGPU with Nvidia+AMD) that it needed to be done to fix issues when using mGPU. Unfortunately though I haven't had much if any crashes since I started playing the game.

If I use multi gpu system in dx12 with two r9 290 the games always crashes after loading 1-5 maps depending on graphic settings but it always crashes with windows telling me not having enough ram. I can reproduce it.

This does not happen with one r9 290
