Galactic Civilizations III: Spring is coming

Galactic Civilizations III: Spring is coming

Greetings!

HermesThe team is about to put v1.7 into public beta.  This new version will be the single biggest change to GalCiv that we’ve probably ever made in a .update.

So what’s the big deal with 1.7? We’re redoing the way starbases are managed.  Starting with 1.7, players can click on a starbase, choose what they want to build and then send out an order to the shipyards that sponsor them and mini-constructors will be produced and automatically sent to the starbase.

Obviously, that’s not the only change in 1.7 but that’s certainly the headline.  More sorting options for ships, general AI improvements, some multiplayer love, and lots of other goodies are part of 1.7.

So the first beta will be this week.

Problem is not solved.
Problem is - I don't want build on economic base nothing, only first ring, may be two, NOT 3 or more rings - I don't need this. And without my wish - every turn queue is generating over and over again, hell.
I delete queue, it is appear again. I don't want on every new base to select new request. I building every turn 3-5 new bases and I don't want waste my time to cancel queue on every base or change queue. So, in the newest patch I MUST doing the more action than I did before.
I want option in the game - manual management the bases, I mean no automatic recall, I want option in the game to canceled this or turn it off, for example - on the planet I can change - automatic upgrade or not.

That is - manual manage the base - will solve the problem

In the starbase screen, click sponsor at the bottom.  In there unselect the automatically manage, and if you want to be able to choose your ship yard click manual and then below you can choose your ship yard sponsor/s.  If one wants the best constructor they have designed or the game has auto designed, one can also then choose this ship of choice right next to where one chooses auto or manual.  At this point when auto is not selected you can now manually order constructors as needed, when you add it to que only.  This will not continue to order constructors and your ship yards will not be full of spam.

I commiserate on the issue with later economic starbase upgrades.  It's the diminishing returns decision.  I went through some similar angst when approaching the new system.  The summary is that I let my planets auto upgrade and control it by when I research what.  The same thing seems to be applicable to the starbase modules.  You possibly manage your planets strictly manually and are looking to extend that to starbases.  Turning off the automatic update in the sponsor settings is possible and I tried that for a while, but was able to talk myself into the autoupdate with some exceptions and it is working.

I think the best thing for you and several others with similar concerns is an easy way to set the default settings for the sponsor settings dialogue.  You would want that setting to be manual by default.  I would like the requested constructor to be specific design by default, one I can change as technologies and situations change.  Others would have different choices for different reasons.  But doing it starbase by starbase is the kind of prohibitive micromanagement the system was designed to avoid.

I find that the same thing is true with the Govern Colony screen with its automatic update settings and that different people have different ideas of what is proper default.  I think those defaults should be easily managed as well for very similar reasons.

I suggest the idea of little templates or profiles that can be selected, but am open to any technique that addresses this part of the management system.  Obviously, it is most applicable to those of us with big maps, but it should be helpful to everyone with any OCD approach to the game.

I agree, this is a feature that I would definitely use.

Local global I'm always in support. The system is but it is integral to be able to easily shut off at times.
