Can't open gates to attack sorcerer king despite having both keys from lieutenants

Ok i've killed both the Sorcerer King's lieutenants and have both their keys, but still can't open the gates of the Sorcerer King's fortress to attack him. What is the reason for this please and how do you fix it? Happened in a previous game but somehow eventually started working. Tried re-trying and reloading and exiting and restarting the game over and over again in this game though, but still doesn't work.

happened to me too. you got to declare war on sorc king get him to 5/5 threat. easiest way to do it is research tower of mastery. that always kicks him off. or wait for him to threaten you with something like a juggernaught and declare then I guess.

I thought this was something that was fixed in an update. I assume you are running the latest version of the game?
